The problem is Microsoft is trying to sell you a swiss army knife platform that can voice control your cable box, make skype calls and record like a tivo. They had a limited amount of money budgeted for the BOM and the Kinect ate up a portion of the product BOM budget so they had to sacrifice on the the CPU etc.. ie: jack of all trades master of none. And not only that you need to pay for a subscription just to use Netflix.
Sony focused its BOM budget all on the console, which means better processing capacity and lower price. Also you do not need to pay for a subscription just to use netflix.
Microsoft initial introduction of the Xbone was an unmitigated PR disaster.
PS4 is out of stock because other than the core fanboys everyone else just wants a game console to play games well and not have to pay for a yearly subscription just to use some of the basic features.
