My PS3 still plays BDs very well, and streams Netflix for me. Once that croaks, I will consider a PS4.

I might get interested if games come out. But right now nothing appeals to me about it. I am surprised it is selling as well as it is given the lack of games for it.

They just sell out quick. My local best buy and gamestops have them in and out of stock every other week or so. Even without a must play game they're still selling that quickly.

I don't even think I'll get a PS4 when my PS3 croaks. I'll just go for a cheap, slim version (I have the original release). I haven't seen any games on PS4 that I really want to play, plus I don't want to lose the ability to play the PS3 games I now have, like Shadow of the Colossus HD.

The problem is Microsoft is trying to sell you a swiss army knife platform that can voice control your cable box, make skype calls and record like a tivo. They had a limited amount of money budgeted for the BOM and the Kinect ate up a portion of the product BOM budget so they had to sacrifice on the the CPU etc.. ie: jack of all trades master of none. And not only that you need to pay for a subscription just to use Netflix.

Sony focused its BOM budget all on the console, which means better processing capacity and lower price. Also you do not need to pay for a subscription just to use netflix.

Microsoft initial introduction of the Xbone was an unmitigated PR disaster.

PS4 is out of stock because other than the core fanboys everyone else just wants a game console to play games well and not have to pay for a yearly subscription just to use some of the basic features.

Hell back in my day if we wanted our Playstation at release we'd have to preorder 6 months in advance and stand out in the snow for hours on opening night. It was worth it though because it had a highly advanced form of technology that let you watch entire movies on a cd.

I'm a little surprised that the PS4 is still sold out most places. I had predicted that supplies would be tight only over the holidays, then loosen considerably after the Thanksgiving and Christmas shopping seasons. For the XB1, that appears to be the case, with units for sale at two Walmarts and 2 BBs near me. I've yet to see a PS4 in stock at any retail store though.

Could start a whole thread discussing why the XB1 is lagging the PS4 though.

It hasn't even been released yet in Japan, last I checked. The big Japanese developers are probably holding their titles for some time after the Japanese launch.

Makes me wonder just how many people stood in line for an XB1/PS4 just to try sell them on eBay for massive mark ups. Retailers and e-tailers should enforce strict 1 unit per customer policies for some products to prevent such despicable tactics. MS and Sony would be on board, as people soaking up on the console stock to sell them for 2x MSRP just hurts adoption rates and stalls the new consoles.

It doesn't do anything like that if they're all sold out. People aren't buying 5 consoles at a time and hoarding them. They sell them and people use them.
