The PS3 is good for something after all

Game Crazy has a deal where they give you an extra 50% credit on your console when you trade it in for an xbox360.

This includes ps3 consoles. So they gave me $750 in credit for the 60gb ps3 console. I bought the 360 with it, and was left with $350 in store credit. I used the store credit + $230 to buy back my ps3 console.

I'll return the ps3 to best buy tomorrow.

Who's the big winner today?

I think I'm gonna pick up a PS3 just to try this; there's a Game Crazy 2 miles from my zip code.

I've never even heard of them. I tried my parents place and my place and both said:

There were no GameCrazy stores within 50 miles of your location.

🙁

They're usually right next to Hollywood Video stores.

I have one 1.75 miles away, one 3.05 miles, and another 4.07 miles! I might try this, thanks OP!

This may be very risky since Game Crazy may open the ps3 console even if its sealed and you won't be able to return the console.

I must have gotten the deal mixed up then. I thought..

1. OP buys a ps3 console at best buy
2. trades it in at Game Crazy which I assume they would be opening the console but op lucked out?
3. buy the xbox and the same exact ps3 console
4. return the same exact ps3 console to best buy

Wait, the wording the OP says he bought his PS3 back, so ... hmm. Yeah, maybe this was a lucky situation ...

Well why would they open his PS3? They buy it with the intention of reselling it again, and reselling a brand new console has to be more beneficial to them than an open one.

Even if they did open the box could you still trade it in for store credit or is it an exchange type deal only?

To make sure you are not pulling a scam and fill the box with a paper weight that is the same size and weight of a ps3. To make sure the video game console is actually working? It also does not seem like a store can buy a technically 2nd hand console and resell it as new. I also thought that used consoles sell for the same price.

The guy wanted to open it, but I told him I was going to buy it back, so he didn't bother. If I was actually going to sell it to game crazy, and not buy it back, then yes, they would have opened it . If they opened the seal they would have to sell it as used.

that said, BB doesn't charge a restocking fee anyway.

oh, I also got a bunch of coupons for buying a new console. 12 free game rentals and a bunch of other stuff
