The PS3 is a helluva media device

I prefer my PS3 than my Xbox as a media player. PS3 has everything. Even though the Xbox has Windows Media Center which makes set-up easy, PS3 has Blu-ray and other things that make it better.

Yeah, my roommate owns a PS3 and I use it quite often for it's media (DLNA) capabilities and it has more than sufficed. But, I'm moving out, so that's why I'm in the market for another device.

Well of course it is. The fact is, for $300, the PS3 can do a lot. You'd be hard pressed to build a capable PC for that kind of a budget. But of course if money isn't as much of an issue, you'd obviously be better building a media center.

it used to be an ornament , like for the entire year that i have it. but it's a pretty sweet machine for playing media now. AND i've finally started to play games on it, a lot of good games are cheap when you wait one year.

it's hard to believe that ps3 is still unhackable.

I love my PS3, installing a 500GB HDD was a great idea, I ripped all my DVD's and now can watch them whenever i want without having to get the disc out. I also love the backwards compatability.

Fat is the way to go. I love my 80 GB with 4 USB ports and backwards compatibility.

Best media center in the world

It's a program called Joy2Key. It takes input from a USB controller and converts it to mouse and keyboard commands. My media server is controlled by a Logitech Rumblepad 2 controller (it's a playstation controller). I play movies through Media Player Classic and the controller's buttons are mapped to commands MPC can understand.

I love this media computer. It doesn't need to stream data from a PC because it has 5TB of local hard drive space. It has full quality DVD and BRD movies stored on it
