Somehow I was hoping someone was gona thump me in the head and show me reason to buy a new CPU/Mobo. Guess not. Actually i am very happy I spent this years' budget on a few SSD's... best ugprade ever.

Gona wait it out --- Bulldozer.... oh now that will be sweet.

Edit: since I am an idiot and cannot resist, I pre-orderd a 480 GTX from my local computer store. It was cheaper than a 5980 and they had no idea when they could get one. Not sure when that will be in. Should be interesting. Heck I need to support the industry -- i cannot stand back. I honestly want it to dim my neighbor's lights when I power up my rig. I want children in 3rd world countries to go cold due to my use of the 480 GTX.

Replying to the OP, if you do any video encoding, spring for a Leadtek card. Any PCIe slot will do (It's an x1 card) it'll change your experience with H264 - no offense to the ATI team but a CUDA card paired with the Leadtek and your still bad-assed CPU will kill. The card runs around $250-300 and dropped the encoding time by around 5x; IIRC it uses Toshiba's spurs engine (cell). Replacing a 9550 this year would be crazy; I know people who would love that chip for the next five years.
