The pill - reliable?

Just out of curiosity - how reliable is 'the pill'?

I'm 22, and was sexually active starting at about 15. I've had sex almost every day since then. (every other day throughout high school, every day after that barring a time or two of a week or so between relationship/girls and whatnot).

That being said, for the first year I normally used a condom. The next year or two I just pulled out (stupid..). When I was 18 the girl I was dating was on the pill, and every girl since then has taken the pill or used the patch.. a couple had the 'shot'. Just about any time there was a question (i.e. didn't know her well enough to trust her) I used a condom.

I've never gotten anyone pregnant. It seems surprising to me that people use the pill and a condom..


Has anyone here gotten a girl pregnant while she was on the pill and taking it correctly (i.e. same time every day)?
 
Pregnancy is not the only reason to use a condom. Unless you ask for a copy of a current STD test before every time you have sex, then you are at risk.

Genital warts are just "love bumps" and really add pleasure to the female during intercourse. Trust me.. she'll love 'em. (natures french tickler). I say rid yourself of those terrible condoms and live life to the fullest! Safe sex is for cowards.

Yeah, even things like antibiotics can lower the effectiveness of the pill.

The pill is very reliable. The person responsible for taking the pill often isn't.

She may forget a pill. She may drink too much while on the pill (ie while drunk she misses a day, delays the proper time for the pill, or throws the pill up). She may lie about taking the pill. Etc.

Yup.

Or she may have done forty other guys already this year, and you don't know where they've been.

So use a condom anyway.
 
Is it me or has there been a steep increase in the number of these threads lately?

OP-

The pill works fine. My GF has even forgot to take it a couple of times and we've been ok. I haven't wrapped my tool in 2 years and never had an "accident".

Bingo. For the past several years I've been having unprotected sex with my girlfriends, all of whom were on the pill. I never pulled out, and we had sex a lot...hundreds of times a year. No pregnancies.
 
Like I said in the other thread, I've got a few friends who haven't used the condom in years and have relied on her taking the pill and have been fine.

The pill is only as reliable as the woman taking it. I've been on the pill for 9+ years. I've had days when I've forgotten, times I've been on antibiotics, but I always informed my partner and used back-up methods.

On the other hand, I have a nephew that was conceived when my sister-in-law was "on the pill."

Guys, don't trust your partner until you're sure. There's too many flaky girls out there, or crazy girls who'll lie because they want a baby and/or to trap some guy in a relationship.

We got pregnant while my wife was on the pill. She was very religious in taking it, but she ended up pregnant. We are that .01% I guess.
