The pill is only as reliable as the woman taking it. I've been on the pill for 9+ years. I've had days when I've forgotten, times I've been on antibiotics, but I always informed my partner and used back-up methods.

On the other hand, I have a nephew that was conceived when my sister-in-law was "on the pill."

Guys, don't trust your partner until you're sure. There's too many flaky girls out there, or crazy girls who'll lie because they want a baby and/or to trap some guy in a relationship.

I know a chick who was on the pill and the guy pulled out, and she still got pregnant.
well, any one of us could get hit by a bus on any given day too. 😛

The thing is the pill is like 98% effective when taken correctly. Those are good odds if you ask me, but still 2 out of 100 get pregnant on it. I wonder if those 2 took it correctly.

We got pregnant while my wife was on the pill. She was very religious in taking it, but she ended up pregnant. We are that .01% I guess.

Thats what sucks about probability lol... I too trust the pill because it IS the most effective method (aside from PERMANENT ones), but its still scary that there is a small chance, as small as it may be... It will happen to someone, eventually

Oh and I must say, I used a condom ONCE, and that was it, I swore I wont use it again... Its horrible, I might as well not have sex at all because its about the same thing, the only pleasure I get is from pleasuring her, not me... So I dont see how people can be so zealous over condoms

Just out of curiosity - how reliable is 'the pill'?

I'm 22, and was sexually active starting at about 15. I've had sex almost every day since then. (every other day throughout high school, every day after that barring a time or two of a week or so between relationship/girls and whatnot).

That being said, for the first year I normally used a condom. The next year or two I just pulled out (stupid..). When I was 18 the girl I was dating was on the pill, and every girl since then has taken the pill or used the patch.. a couple had the 'shot'. Just about any time there was a question (i.e. didn't know her well enough to trust her) I used a condom.

I've never gotten anyone pregnant. It seems surprising to me that people use the pill and a condom..

Has anyone here gotten a girl pregnant while she was on the pill and taking it correctly (i.e. same time every day)?

Nope. The only woman I ever impregnated was my wife. I've had sex with a number of chicks on the pill though. Never used a condom...I hate condoms.

So far it's seeming very reliable. When she was on antibiotics before we had to use a different method, but other than that things have been uneventful (in the good sense).
