A friend tipped me off to a deal where you can get a HD-DVR/Tivo from DirecTV for free. In the course of our conversation he told me how he was going to have to have get a new multi-switch to handle his new HD-DVR, regular DVR, and standard receiver. Knowing he is single, I asked why he needed three receivers. His response:

"How else am I supposed to watch three games at the same time? I have been getting by with side-by-side 32 inch TVs, so now I will have the 50 inch with the smaller ones on each side."

I have a 48" HDTV that I have to share with a wife and kids. He was "getting by" having two TVs all to himself.
 
I'm not even married, and my girlfriend doesnt want me to get a new Sidekick III aside from from current cell phone. The nerve of these women.

He's an everything fan. He subscribes to the MLB pack, the NFL Sunday Ticket, the NBA pack, the College Football pack, the College Basketball pack. The only thing I think he doesn't subscribe to is hockey.
 
Bought my fiancee a DS Lite. Now I get the TV and PC whenever I want.

Of course, now I want to play the DS.
 
I was just thinking that basketball and hockey are too fast paced to really keep track of everything that happens in three games. Football is marginal. But baseball, that's about on pace with golf.
 
Why couldn't your friend have these things even if he wasn't single? Does his relationships dictate what kinds of things he can have and how happy he can be with them?

What woman would allow a man to sit home on a Sunday, watch the Pre-game starting at 7 am and sit on his ass for the next 14 hours? And allow 3 TV in the room or flipping channels all day? Good luck with that
 
My single brother finds in incomprehensible that we only have 1 TV in his house, when he has one in every room but his kitchen and bathroom, and two in his garage.

She might not approve of it, but it's not really her place to make calls like that. The only situation where I think that I would consider listening to someone else in regard to this situation would be where we had a shared pool of resources and times were hard.
 
Heh...sounds like something I'd do.

My two 42" sets (bedroom and living room) plus my dual 20"LCDs seem sufficent for now though. (1 br condo)

I would expect to have to bring that up with my wife just like I would expect her to bring up painting the room pink or salmon or whatever the hell she calls it. We both have veto power and it seems to work well.
 
Good point. Living together can create a different spin on things. Good that you both have input in decisions that happen in a shared environment. I guess I was thinking more along the lines of a relationship where a couple isn't sharing living arrangements.

She does have a say... in a MARRIAGE you do have shared resources. And your partner in life does have a say. However you can also choose the battle... yu can stand up and demand what you want... you just have to be willing to walk through the shitstorm standing in yourway.

My wife "allowed" me to build 2 PCs and buy 2 more. I have 3 gaming PCs and 1 laptop. My laptop and 1 PC is rarely used. She also "allowed" me to buy a 65" HDTV shortly after we got a 36" that worked just fine. In out house, she "allowed" me to put a room in the basement for a theater, and is "allowing" me to put up a 110" screen. What will happen to thr 65"? Possibly for my office, where she is "allowing" me a communications closet, whole house audio, and another PC. She also "allowed" me to wire the bathroom for TV so I can mount an LCD above the jacuzzi.

Yes, we talk about what we should buy when it comes to items that cost several hundred or thousand dollars, but she does not dictate what I can and can't do. If she doesn't like an idea, it is for a legit reason and she explains it. I generally see her point of view. (Like she really doesn't want me to trade our Bayliner cabin cuddy in for a wake boarding boat because the kids like to take naps in the hull and it is more family oriented and fits more...)

Hahaha... 😉 There are plenty of good reasons to be single, but definitely not that.

That is funny. I don't watch much TV when I have a few good books to read.
