the key is to not look

i've gotten hundreds of blood tests, dozens of shots and a few IVs, but have never watched one of them enter my skin

For me it depends on where the needle is going.... inner forearm or essentially any time they need a vein directly really bothers me, but even a big Dr Frankenstein syringe going into a muscle no problem.

Clearly its all in my head! :p

yeah you gotta look away and convince yourself it's not happening!

i've had so many needle insertions in my both of my elbow-pits (is that what they're called?) that it looks like i've got track marks

luckily the veins are still good and the medical personnel always comment on how easy i am

Till this year i never knew so many people with a fear of needles. I also found out i work with a bunch of babies... reluctant to get the follow-up shots because it made them sooooo sick. Most have gotten them but not without a lot of griping before hand.

ah yes, the classic:

All hail ceiling cat. Praise be to him. ;) Oh great ceiling cat, save us from basement cat.

The first time I watched the needle going in for a blood test, I passed out. In process, I knocked over the little cart with all of implements of destruction there upon.

Now, I always watch and have them use the veins on the back of my hand. Those are always nice and plump while the ones on the inner elbow always hide. Jab, jab, where the f*** are you.

I think Trump's lack of professionalism spurred on these a-holes more than COVID. What I find most illogical is that somehow in the eyes and minds (if they had one) of the masses is that somehow COVID cured the common cold, flu, allergies, etc. In fact any condition that previously resulted in a cough, runny nose, sneeze, etc. has been effectively cured and the only cause for such things is COVID. Pharmacy products should now smack the packaging with "COVID" to relieve you of that COVID cough, the COVID runny nose, and COVID sneezing. Shoot, next it'll be bunions and cancer was cured and replaced with COVID of the foot and cells.

That's...interesting. When I had COVID symptoms, guess what? I had COVID. You know what I didn't get since the pandemic started? The flu, or cold that caused any symptoms. I'm sure me wearing a mask, and following procedures that helped prevent the spread of COVID had nothing to do with that. Wearing a mask even helped with my allergies. I used to get a wicked sinus infection a couple of times a year because of them. Haven't even had more than a random occasional sneeze outside of the week I had COVID otherwise once I started wearing a mask and people washing their hands and wiping stuff down.

Also...were we so lucky that "the masses" (nice generic boogeyman by the way) treated all of that like COVID, and forced vaccinations or no job, or forced people to stay the fuck home when they're spewing disease (on the flipside, if only jobs were actually fine with people taking off work because they're sick), or forced them to mask up when they're around other people because even though they might not be showing symptoms, they very well might still be spreading the disease.

Also, psst, you know that previous COVID infections actually fall under the blanket term of "cold", right?

the pandemic hasnt changed anyone.
the pandemic revealed their true nature.
You almost had that right, in my opinion. I think that all that ugliness is actually the fear of being real. Stress threatens the ease with which we are normally better able to pretend.

I think you are deliberately trying to alter my observations but you cannot. I know what I meant even if you could not receive my message the way it was intended. When I say COVID, I am naturally referring to '19' but if I must Crayola it for some then there, I have. All other illnesses have been cured because of COVID-19.

It's not just fear....it's utter stupidity. Remember the Guy at Costco or Samsclub that refused to wear a mask....even though it was store policy? He was talking about how it was America and he could do what he wanted.

I was at a bar maybe 6 months ago and this guy was talking about air filtration being superior to masks. I told him that masks protect others from droplets out of the mask wearer's mouth and that the mask was not so-much about protecting the person wearing the mask. His dumb thick skull still couldn't get it. He stopped talking and walked away. I think this was when the issue was political to the stupid and ignorant folks. It's just sad that we've been at this so long and they're having to repeat the same things EVERY day on the news. Hoda and Savannah asked the CDC director about wearing masks and vaccines just this morning. It's getting old if you were alive in May of 2020.

The hell with Covid .... I've enjoyed NOT catching a cold for what I'm pretty sure is the longest stretch of my entire life! (nearly 2 years)

Some of this is due to far less in the way of social contact no doubt, BUT the remainder is due to masking up in public.

Bottom line however is (as I've said before) god help anyone who says one word to me about wearing a mask in public after the last two years! I have a personal "zero tolerance" policy for selfish assholes. (which is EXACTLY what you are if you start flapping your pie-hole... MIGHT end up hunting for your teeth!)

I for one am sick and tired of the ignorant bull$hit and no longer have a scrap of sympathy for "muh rites as n amerkin".
