Nanking itself may of had only around 300K deaths, but looking at the bigger picture the Japanese killed millions in China. The Japanese were carrying out systematic genocide to all of Asia, killing thousands of people and you might be able to use that reason, but millions?

You also say that the Japanese fought through the massive resistance by the Chinese. There was little resistense because China was too busy fighting itself thanks to Mao and Chiang Kai Shek. I know the 2 stupid governments are to blame for the resistance being so weak, but the main point of this was that China was too busy fighting themselves to defend themselves from the Japanese. With a incredibly divided country and little resistance, why was there so many deaths?

The Japanese people today are very nice and humble and have shown the rest of the world what a peaceful country they are. But the fact is they are denying what happened in the past and they need to repent for it. Nazi generals were prosecuted and they paid for what they did, but Japanese generals walked off scott free and looked at as war heroes when they should be looked at as criminals.

It's quite obvious that you have no idea what happened under colonialism. I wouldn't hesitate to say that at least 100 million people died because of the actions of the British Empire and I think that's being extremely naive. Fifty million Indians alone starved to death because of man-made famines caused by the British Empire to satisfy their greed.

Nanking is only a small part of the Japanese atrocities. And yes, Auschwitz was far from nice, but the Japanese were no angels compared to them either as some people would like us to believe. The horrible abuse of power by Japanese soldiers was actually encouraged by their government, and that is one of the things they do not want to acknowledge. They too experimented on prisoners, and they too killed a lot of people. Saying we should forget about it is saying we should forget about Auschwitz too, that the murder of millions of Jews in Europe is so long ago we shouldn't think about it anymore.

Both of my parents were alive during the Dutch hunger winter, and my grandparents on both sides had Jewish friends they took in to hide them from the Germans. I basically grew up hearing about WW II and all its horrors, and I think it would be good if they'd create a copy of Auschwitz (so the original stays in the current condition) to lock up people who claim the holocaust never happened, that 'we should let it go', that it wasn't that bad, or that future generations shouldn't be bothered with it. Let them experience the horrors themselves for a few months, and see if they are still so ignorant (and if so, just shoot them).

the thing is that it is not the same as germany. the enviroment of china is that apologys to such a regiem are just not prudent. if we stalemated with hitler would we apologize for dresden? chinas motives are highly political and while any sane person would push for an apology sometime in the future, pushing for one to the current oppressive dictatorial regiem while they continue to commit human rights attrocities to this day while white washing their own past is just rather unwise.

the thing is that it is not the same as germany. the enviroment of china is that apologys to such a regiem are just not prudent. if we stalemated with hitler would we apologize for dresden? chinas motives are highly political and while any sane person would push for an apology sometime in the future, pushing for one to the current oppressive dictatorial regiem while they continue to commit human rights attrocities to this day while white washing their own past is just rather unwise.

You see, Nanking wasn't the main part, it was happening all over China. Ever hear of Unit 731? Where Japanese tested on hundreds of thousands of Chinese, Korean, and Americans? Japan can recognize the existence of the facility but deny anything that happened in there because of the lack of documents providing proof that it existed. My Chinese teacher in High School beat it into our heads that this isn't something to forget. It wasn't just a couple hundred thousand lives, it was millions of lives.
