who else ordered their book from Amazon?

i just got a free $5 amazon gift coupon thing from them for ordering. i didn't realize i was going to get this, especialy on top of getting the book on the day of release.

too bad they took like a week to send it out though, because i've ordered at least 2 other items from amazon in the past few days...

I got the $5 amazon thing too. It's only good for the month of august.

So, how many here have read/re-read all 7 books recently? I dug out the old ones and read the first 6 straight thru, while waiting for 7. I've run into several others who've done the same thing. Anyone else, or do I just have strange friends?

I watched the first 5 movies and re-read book 6 right before reading book 7. I didn't have time to read them all.

And what's with the spoilers a few posts back. You might as well give away then ending of the book with what's been posted.

That's a shame!

I pre-ordered #7 maybe a few weeks before release and even though I opted for free super saver shipping I received the book USPS on release day, 7/21.

Potential spoilers, I guess...

I finished the book last night. The more I think about it the more disappointed I am with it. I thought the ending was awkward and a little contrived; more or less, people were acting in order to serve the theme rather than acting realistically. And so much of the book was Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Many other loved characters received scant attention in the book and it felt funny that so little of the Deathly Hallows occurred at Hogwart's.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the passage about goblins' concept of ownership and how it was such a heavy-handed missive about real-world file-sharing, intellectual property and copyright. If the book were written a decade ago I doubt Rowling would have written the same thing.

So, hmm, yeah I was expecting a somewhat different final book and what Rowling gave us was not really what I wanted.

I just finished the final book and really liked it, a lot of my predictions came true. Shame its the end.

I want to re-read them all. I may wait for the box set edition though and then read that.

After I finished the 5th and 6th books a while back I started re-reading all the previous books, starting with the 4 and then back. Really good read.

I finished it last night. stayed up until almost 1 AM because I wanted to keep reading.

It was pretty good.

I always hate reading the end of a series, especially I really liked it, because that means there won't be any more stories with those characters, there's no more looking forward to seeing what's going to happen next, no more anticipation for the next book.

i still wonder why Madame Maxime wasn't at the wedding. Fleur was her special
student, and she had just been there for Dumbledore's funeral.
