it seemed far fetched but you never know and when someone else corroborated (sp?) the story, well, wtf else am I supposed to think?

I wish i'd have taken longer to read it but i just couldn't stop once i got going.
The biggest dissapointment to me was how short the denouement was. It was like BAM big battle, then done. I wanted to see a bit more. Maybe not quite Return of the King protracted ending, but this felt rushed.

The encyclopedia will contain information on what was left out? More than just a collection of random gibberish?
Great, now I have another thing to look forward to.

Yep, she has stacks and stacks of notes of backstory on characters, and details on things that weren't explained all too well. I'm sure it won't be just a random collection of notes, she'll probably give it some context and substance.

I completely agree, the other books all had nicer falling action/endings, of which I would have expected a fully fleshed out 37th chapter, whereas this one ends abruptly at 36 and then has a short Epilogue so that the series is finished for good, it doesn't do the rest of the book justice...

the saga of Harry Potter begins exactly the same way that it ends. the story has always been about him triumphing over adversity - without evil, there really is no story to tell. the epilogue skips through what would be considered mundane (although many HP fans express interest in the aftermath of the final fight), much like the LOTR-RotK ending.

Yes, but that's really what I wanted, not exactly in the same fashion as ROTK, but something more than what is there. Harry had new potential responsibilities and family and who knows what but we don't really get to celebrate much in the jubilation that, while he might not wanted to share it with everyone there were certainly those who he did want to share it with as was indicated in the book but we never got into any of that, it just ended.
Here we've read so many pages of how troubling and trying Harry's life has been and then we don't get much (if any at all) of the moment when the burden is finally lifted, it just cuts to a relatively lame time where Harry hasn't been troubled for so many years, it just isn't the same.

im sure you wouldnt want to read about the g-rated escapades of married couples, even if they were wizards. besides trying to blend in with muggle life, there really isnt anything interesting going on. and from the ending, you can figure out that Harry has resigned himself from any other good vs. evil types of battles, which eliminates a big chunk of writing material to draw from. Harry would also be in his last year of school, but besides the typical "learn new spells, kill the dark arts teacher, struggle with exams" stuff, there isnt anything new and exciting going on in school anymore either. what Harry has been through is the climax of his adventures, and writing anymore about Harry's life after Hogwarts would be boring in comparison to his achievements while in school.

In my opinion this is my least favorite book. It was exciting but it didn't go anywhere. It felt like she was sick of writing and wrote some crap down.
