The new book sucked. Plain and simple. As a far since even before the first book got huge I am sorely disappointed.

Spoil me silly. Were the "spoiler" images floating on the Internet the real version? If not, how did it end? Thanks!

Please PM me. :)

Just check the spoiler thread. Some of the online sellers fubared and had shipped books to people several days before the scheduled release, which is probably why someone was able to take the pics of one :)

The Walmart where I live had a full pallet of Harry Potter books for $17.50. They didn't seem to be selling that well, though... probably because half of the people who shop at that Walmart speak Spanish :)

Mine hasnt showed up yet, which is a little worrying.

Ive started reading my moms copy though, and im around the 100 page mark so far. So much has happened already its hard to wrap my head around.

Im moving out today though, and probably getting a job Monday, so I doubt I will have much time to read it more.

i preordered mine on amazon and it hasn't arrived yet. I tracked it and it said there's an exception to the delivery. Normally it says out for delivery when the package is being delivered. has anyone who ordered from amazon gotten theirs yet?

Did you order it after the Saturday delivery cutoff?

I just got mine. Ordered from Amazon.

What it appears to be is that they had UPS ship it into the next town over, then had USPS deliver it with the mail.

So you should expect it with your daily mail.

Weird. UPS had tracking info and everything, then it shows up in my mail box.

I was not planning on getting it, but my local grocery store of all places had a good 60 or so copies when I was there around noon. I figured what the heck. Finished it and have to say I liked it.

I have to wonder how the heck they can fit all of it in to a 2 hour movie.

They can't. It's gonna have to be a 3 hour movie.

In my opinion, the Potter books should never have made it to film. The first three are relatively short, so squeezing them into a 2 hour movie isn't an issue. But the next 4 are at least twice as long. There's too much in these books, and you can't afford to sacrifice any of it. That's why the Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix movies were...shit? Peter Jackson made LOTR work, but only because the majority of the book was mostly about detailed scenery.

Perhaps make it longer than 2 hours, like the previous ones?

Sorcerer's Stone - 2:32
Chamber of Secrets - 2:41
Goblet of Fire - 2:37
Prisoner of Azkaban - 2:21
Order of the Phoenix - 2:18
Half-Blood Prince - ???
Deathly Hallows - ???

I can't see how it will be less than 3 and still make it a movie that covers the details. The final battle to the end should take a good hour alone. There is also a LOT of backstory that is revealed in the final book, which explains everything. Showing that should take another hour. Add in the scened from before the final battle and you have at least another hour.

I can't imagine that it will be a comprehensive movie by any means. A lot of the beginning/middle of the book could be taken out with little trouble. But your right, the final battle should take about an hour.

Did people actually wait in line overnight for this thing? I was at Sams today for something else and there were pallets full of the book for like $18 or something. Had to be a couple hundred copies easy.
