Yeah I don't know what to make of all this embassy stuff, on the one hand we have Christians picketing dead soldiers funerals, on the other they are picketing not killing people or invading the sovereignty of a nation.

I get being pissed off about the movie, but America has a constitution allowing free speech so these rioters can get fucked. If it were me I would let respective governments know, you step on our soil we will gun your ass down.

Why we haven't taken direct action against people bringing violence on our soil is beyond me.

It seems like not too long ago that violent attacks, and murder against sovereign US territory/citizens would have at least received a cruise missile. Maybe we should apologize for an American making an offensive movie that forced muslims to attack and kill unrelated people, that should teach them.

How is conventional action an effective response to an unconventional threat?

I have no moral objection to the people responsible being put down for the dirt nap however a knee jerk response with heavy weapons that stand to do more damage to civilians and our credibility isn't particularly useful in this case.

Maybe the absolute, clear knowledge that such a strike is the inevitable US response to something like this would dissuade such behaviors or make the civilians who would be killed or see their city partially destroyed less tolerant of these extremists in their midst.

It's pretty proven that fighting an ideological war like that is ineffective or worse. We'll just make more extremists.
