"government closest to the people governs best"
I assume he's going to be pushing for reforms to kick soft money back out of politics?

Was the bill going to allow prescription drug imports or are you proposing price controls? Look through our history and tell us how well price controls have performed in the real world.
Anyways this isnt the thread to get into this debate. Lets just say the current bill will do little to reduce the "costs" of the system imo.

Look at that he didn't spend a trillion dollars and he didn't lose 4 million jobs.
The biggest take away is body language from all of this as it always is. You guys that know business understand.
These are the subtle clues that gauge what the speaker is presenting. Failure to spend a few seconds on each side of your audience, let alone a state of the freaking union - this president has no confidence, no leadership. I never saw him look into the camera, i never saw his eyes, and this was going from multiple feeds of the major networks.
You are weak Obama and if you cannot look us into the eye then you are not telling the truth.
wtf does that have to do with government being close to the people or with corporations buying our political rudder?
and no, he isn't any either of our recent presidents

Maobama is close to the people?
unions are buying elections
wake up lefty
He said climate change.
The most striking thing was the Republicans, the disgusting bastards that hate this country.
Never in my lifetime have I've seen empty seats. Half the fuckers didn't even show up.
The ones that did show up just shock their heads saying NO the whole hour and ten minutes of the speech and of course never stood up.
Very sad

"I am not interested in re-litigating the past"
Such insight. Please tell us more.
Meh, most everyone else in the thread is muttering about where his eyes were looking and trying to come up with names to call people, so lets not sanctify the thread too much.
It wasn't a great bill, but it was about as far as we could feasibly move the ball at once. The reason drug imports would be a reason to save money is because Canada et all negotiated lower prices for their drugs because they represented a very bulk purchase. Single payer here would have the same buying power.
"Everyone who plays by the rules"
Doesn't sound like illegals.
Care to take a guess what happens when/if we start reimporting drugs from canada?
Their drugs will go up or they will be limited on how much they can buy. Makes for a nice soundbite, but it will no do anything in reality.

Amazing, with the GOP response he's actually looking into the camera.
