This is how I really feel

I love how IGN puts up a highly critical review of Dice/BF4 over their connectivity issues, but when you click the link to their Forza 5 review you get a 404. They cant even launch a web page. Classic.

That's what I get for visiting IGN 🙂

The forza 5 review won't be live until 6AM PT/9AM ETand Ryse will have a review up on Thursday morning.

Does anyone have a detailed review of just the controller? I'm interested in getting a good impression on how it compares to both the 360 controller (did they really fix the D-Pad) and the new PS4 controller.

It's sort of an alarming trend how unfinished both the PS4 and X1 are at launch. The potential is there for both platforms, but both are woeful incomplete as far as features, stability, and maturity goes.

I honestly think X1 won't really begin to make sense for a few years. The app ecosystem needs to grow and they NEED to strike some sort of deal with cable/satellite providers to get a native and seamless TV experience. This HDMI input overlay is a stop-gap Band-Aid solution IMHO until they can nail down the real solution (whether that be IPTV or some hockey puck style tuner box you lease from your provider).

Kotaku has a review up as well.

They also make the conclusion that the XBO isn't exactly fleshed out as much as it should be. The core principles are there, but there is a distinct lack of execution. Voice commands work well, albeit 85% of the time, but a good portion of the originally touted features have some sort of catch/small issue behind them.

I watched the gamespot livestream that happened earlier today and there were a few things that bothered me. They biggest issue I had was the color palette. The green black and red palette was very jarring to me. It didn't help that text was sometimes hard to read because it would turn green when using the voice controls. I was also disappointed to see advertisements displayed prominently on the menu again. So far Sony has not put any ads on the PlayStation 4 and I hope it stays that way.

The voice commands seem to be pretty spotty as well. I'm sure they will work out the kinks on that but it doesn't make me want to buy one right away. I'll probably get one of them eventually but I will wait for a price drop.

So, the Amazon trade in program doesn't count for Madden? That is some BS.

Gamestop is going it for Madden, and I purchased the Anniverary Edition from Amazon... Man, f that.
Settle down, chief... They're doing it. As a matter of fact, I've already sent in my X360 copy.

doesn't matter what reviews X1 gets initially, a ton of people are going to buy it, includin gme.

48 minutes, amazon.com opens up preorders.

They're late :colbert:
Weird, I figured when I got on a moment ago they had already sold out. I thought of getting one to scalp but it's a lot of effort.

Eventually, but as Kotaku says, there's not much point in owning one now, so reviews like that may lag people. They say the same thing about the PS4.

I would only get one if the price dropped. For that price and some change I would rather get a 290x. But I am interested in the hardware review.

I can't process my checkout of X1 off amazon. Fucked up. It just says "We're sorry!" when I view my cart after I added it.

I held the controller at GameStop and I actually think it feels worse than the 360 controller personally. I'll get used to it but I definitely prefer the ds4 by a good margin. The xb1 controller has some edges that aren't rounded off and feel strange, the Rb and Lb buttons have a bit more of a clicky feel than I would prefer, and I also think the analog sticks are a tad small. On my initial impressions it doesn't feel as high quality as the 360 controller or the ds4. The dpad seems like it would be better than the 360 but outside of fighters it gets minimal usage.

This is all just based off of the initial look and feel from a couple minutes.I'll have a better idea on it once I am able to play games using it and I am sure I will get used to it.

I am definitely getting an xb1 still because I want games. Games that won't come to ps4 or PC. Games like Halo, forza, killer instinct, and others that will be coming throughout the next years. So I can't control everything by talking to it yet...that is so far in the back of the list of features I care about or functionality I will realistically use it has no bearing on my purchase decision. I understand it is functionality that was highly publicized and they have to review it but it does not alter my perception of the system as a game console. The controller, the network, and the games themselves do.

That is my personal view.

I clicked on "Buy all items with 1 click" and it still went to the "We're sorry!" page, lol. Wow....

They should have just changed the D-pad. That was the only real problem with the controller to begin with.
