That's really not the comparison here and you know it. There is a lot more to this purchase than just this "issue" for a large percentage of users. I for one actually want the media aspects, I want the integration with the rest of their ecosystem, and I want the family options. Those things together are enough for me to justify my purchase of console B over console A because I don't give a shit about what happens with the discs or anything else. I don't buy used, I don't resell, I rarely loan outside of family.
This is just like Steam (with family sharing) except for the sales (that we know of), and I'm perfectly fine with that.
I still don't get why people are up in arms about all this. They're clearly aimed at different segments and people already know which one they want.
