I really only played the first Gears. I like third person shooters and thought it did a good enough job. Didn't have the desire to play the others though. I will probably check out a next gen one (and the different direction).

I didn't see anybody mention this, but MS bought the Gears of War franchise from Epic and has another game (at least, in the planning stages) of development.

I bought all 4 but didn't really like Judgement unfortunately. But since I didn't even start playing until 3 was out, I didn't make a big donation until Judgement lol.

I really liked the first 3, enough to buy Judgement. Unfortunately Judgement was a let down... but a new one could get me to buy XB1 if I don't have it.

The Forza news is interesting. well, once Forza is $20 for the XBone and the XBone is closer to $300, I'll consider an XBone. White XBone, Black XBone? I don't care. Whatever is cheaper or has the best bundle at the time.

White simply doesn't match anything. Not my tv, not my receiver, not my speakers, not my cable box, not my blu-ray player. Black looks a little more elegant to me as well.

The sequel will be some 2 years off, at best. (Even COD has a 2 year cycle, they just have two companies working on it for the yearly release).

I'm also not entirely sure they will try and milk this. They are largely doing what they've known in the past, but that could just be because they are a new company trying to get started. Doing an FPS, when you're pretty much the god of FPS is easy. Doing something else might be what they really want to do.

I could see MS trying to buy them up. Because it will have a fantastic attach rate for the Xbone 4. But without PS4 and PS3 support I don't think the actual units sold will be very high, and with MS and EA eating up a ton of the profits they might not be as financially as stable as they had hoped to be. MS or EA coming by with a bag of money is going to look pretty tempting. If they are willing to sell out I suspect that they will view MS as a better place for a developer than EA after what went down at Activision.

If it sells well enough then yea they could eventually buy exclusivity but we need to wait and see how it does first before that happens.

I am sure it will sell well. It is an modern / futuristic FPS on console developed by the same guys that made COD4. Anyone who liked COD4 will, at the very least, give it a look and plenty of people disappointed with GHOSTS and BF4 will as well.

The people waiting for a Halo will also look (as Halo 5 is likely late 2015 at the earliest).

I know my group of friends are going to get it and attempt to make it our Wednesday night game that we abandoned because Halo 4 just wasn't fun.

Didn't MS guarantee a 2014 halo 5 release? I too think it will be delayed further and rightfully should be IMO.

Cause a good game takes time and with new hardware and a new engine I would hope they take the proper time to fix what the community disliked with halo 4 and refine the campaign. I just dont want to see a rushed out game is all.

considering we have no clue when development of halo 5 started, it's kinda dumb to make any assumptions at this point.

although, this IS the console gaming forum, where psychics run about freely with their superior knowledge.

I was basing it purely from a previous release cycle standpoint. Halos have had, at the least, a 2 year release cycle. So, a 2013 Halo is likely to be released in 2015. It was also "leaked" Halo 2 anniversary will contain a Halo 5 beta.

EDIT: I actually just remembered I got my dates wrong. Halo 2 was Nov. 2012. I suppose a late 2014 Halo 5 wouldn't be out of line then. However, a 10 year Halo 2 anniversary would be Nov. 2014, and with a beta, we are probably looking at March 2015.

But, that is all just speculation.

If the Halo 2 anniversary is true, it will come in Nov. 2014 (10 years after Halo 2 released). It will include a beta for Halo 5. So, unless they are looking at a December release, it is likely going to be 2015. March 2015 wouldn't be terrible, but depending on how the beta goes, it could be later.

If I am being psychic, so be it. I am just using leaked information and realistic expectations. If only I could do that for the stock market. =(

halo 2 in the fall with a halo 5 beta sounds reasonable, if these rumors are true. that would still put "halo 5 out in 2014" in one fashion or another. the halo 3 beta was pretty cool that came with crackdown.

At least we will be able to see what changes were made to the online play from 4.
