I didn't mean to imply it was a bad game. Nothing is wrong with it. I'm just not into the game mechanics. I didn't like any of the Tomb Raider games either, and most of those were highly rated. Just so you don't think I'm lopsided, I didn't like the Gears of War games either :p I'm kind of strange like that.

My favorite game from last gen was Lost Odyssey, followed by God of War 3 and resistance 2. If a new Resistance or God of War trilogy comes to PS4, I'd seriously have to consider buying a PS4.

If Lost Odyssey 2 was annouced I'd be ecstatic, but alas it doesn't look like Mistwalker has any desire to do it.

Didn't I read that god of war was done or did I read it wrong?

I also didn't like gears of war. I do like halo but I feel halo 4 was the worst of the series.

I think it was Gears of War that was done. Last I heard and could find was a few statements on God of War was just before the last PS3 release with them looking forward to developing the next game on the PS4 and it's 16x the amount of usable memory. Whereas there has been nothing in the Gears camp since Judgement and while MS owns the rights to Gears, Epic has moved most of the team that had been developing them to different projects. Gears might come back later but basically they were out of ideas and MS didn't pay Epic to start developing the next one.

Yes and No. You didn't read wrong. The story arc is definitely complete and as of now there are no plans for a new game, however I'd be hard pressed to believe they won't try to take it in a new direction. Not when a new series of GOW games is potentially worth billions to Sony as well as a huge incentive for people to buy a PS4.

It wouldn't be the first time a franchise was thought to be finished and then suddenly grew legs.

Bioware is currently making a new Mass Effect game, but they are careful to say it is not a sequel but a new story set in the Mass Effect Universe.

The Halo games keep coming even considering Halo 3 completed original storyline. A new Halo is in development.

So yes, officially there is no new God of War game. Unofficially though, I'd bet almost anything they are figuring out a way to do it.

I am fairly certain Mystwalker went under, so don't hold your breath. I agree Lost Odyseey was a JRPG gem. The writing (especially the memories) were amazing. I wish more studios would hire actual writers and not let the developers dictate the awful story.

I never heard anything about Mistwalker Studios going under, and I can't find anything online about it. So, I'm assuming that they're still doing something.

I mentioned it in that "What you want to see" thread, but I want to see another Blue Dragon. The story was a bit lackluster, but I liked the gameplay. It felt a lot like the old Final Fantasy games. Arguably, Lost Odyssey is too, but there was just something about the game that I didn't like. Maybe it just felt weird transitioning from Blue Dragon's 3D worlds to Lost Odyssey's setup, which was sort of like Final Fantasy VII. Also, that first boss really left a sour taste in my mouth for the longest time. :p

You're right about that. I felt that Lost Odyssey was more Final Fantasy than everything Final Fantasy since X. It had amazing true turn based gameplay and was pretty hard unless you made the effort to learn how the battles worked. That first boss killed my 3 times before I figured it out. :) It wasn't a perfect game but far more engrossing than that on rails storybook that was FFXII. I truly hope FFXV comes full circle, otherwise I truly will be done with Final Fantasy forever in spite of what the reviewers say. Good JRPGs are getting more rare by the year.

Agree about Blue Dragon...that game was really good, especially for a early release title. Didn't like the view distance though..the pop in was annoying.

Mystwalker didn't but the co-developer did (feel+ as part of AQ I). Feel+ was created by AQ specifically to assist Mystwalker in development by request of MS.

Problem was for Lost Odyssey was that it didn't do what it was intended to do sales and popularity in the US be damned it didn't originally do very well in Japan and it didn't sell consoles in Japan. It was the games sole purpose and it failed.

Okay, Mistwalker handled most of the writing, composing, and direction aspects of Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey while MS studios (two now defunct divisions) handled to actual development. A third console game was canceled and the last things they worked on were in 2012 and iOS / Andoid games. It looks as if they pretty much abandoned consoles. =(

I am really starting to lose my patience with the party and crappy game invite system. I know MS said they will be fixing it soon, but I don't get why they needed to screw up an already perfect system from the 360.

I hear that. The ps4 seemed to fix everything wrong with the ps3's system for game invites and party chat etc. but the xb1 seemed to break a lot of things that worked fine on the 360. I hope it doesn't take too long to get everything smoothed out.

It's all a matter of software issues at this point. Even Sony could improve on the little bit of lag we see when inviting people to join a game or a party. Sometimes that may also be game specific. There are times I think my messages do not get sent.

I still can't believe that the One and PS4 don't support DLNA right out of the box.

I'm streaming music through my 360 this holiday season.

I agree. I was dumbstruck when Sony came out officially and said that the PS4 in its current for will not support DLNA, CD Audio, or local digital audio/video playback except through officially santioned streaming services. MS said the XB1 will support all these things, but that they need a little time to get the software together. All Sony said is that they will look into it, but there are no firm commitments to either provide it nor time tables if they do. Given their track record with the PS3 of removing features after the fact, I don't trust them...at least not right now. Both Sony and MS will do what makes them the most money, but at least MS is open about it. They made it easy for gamers to decide whether to go with the PS4 or XB1. Love or hate them, they had balls to annouce the DRM stuff, and then to change it afterward.

I do think Sony will come around to providing it, but how long before that? Officially the PS4 doesn't support it so they are in no hurry.

I know people will think I'm silly about this, but I was on the fence with a leaning toward the XB1 solely because of Forza, but when Sony made that announcement they made the decision for me. Now I have a XB1 and have zero regrets. Everyone has their ideas about what is important, and I can tell you that price had absolutely no part in that decision. I would have paid $600 for a PS4 if sony hadn't be so cavalier about shutting the door on everyone who used their PS3 as a media hub as designed. "We are focused only on gaming" is their way of saying they don't have the time or inclination to develop software that people might use in spite of the fact that hardware wise it wouldn't have cost them another dime.

For some DRM was the deciding factor, though I personally didn't have any problem with MS's early stance on DRM or kinect. The PS4 definitely has the edge hardware wise, but on the software side it is far less obvious and people have to decide what is important to them.

No, it doesn't, except in a less than useful "PlayTo" mode (i.e. you have to go to the backend PC to start the video).

Yep.

I have a Linux server running DLNA with all my mp3s on it. I can stream music to my smart TVs, my 360 and my PS3, but I can't to my One or PS4. Makes no sense to me at all.

Boogie said in a YouTube video that yoshido told him when he went to the NY ps4 launch event that dlna will be added in a patch.

It makes perfect sense. The amount of users that have a set up similar is very small. Both Son and MS put more focus on the things that will be used the most by the majority of users: the gaming stuff.

I don't doubt eventually this stuff will be patched in; especially by MS, because they are trying to take over the living room.

Yoshida Shuihei confirmed it at the launch event. These are coming in a future update guaranteed.

You can do it in the xb1 if you use plex media server and bubbleupnp from your android device. There are iOS apps that work the same. It pushes the media from plex to whatever box supports dlna in any form including play to.
