Well again, it represents 20% of the cost over its competition. If it was minor, I would have hoped that they'd put the cost into a better GPU. Seriously, this thing is sucking wind on BF4, which is EXTREMELY disappointing and concerning, especially considering that they want these things to have a 10 year lifecycle.

I commented in the BF4 thread: the PS4 is clearly superior with regard to graphical quality and framerate.

My son and I are sitting here with both consoles with blank looks on our faces. We prefer the Xbone's library but the PS4 hardware and controller are the shiz, and not just on paper.

Keep both man...seriously. Use the PS4 for it's strengths and enjoy the XB1 games that you can't play on PS4. You win.

I kind of feel where you're coming from but the Kinect is cool and all but it's better than having the console crap out.

I really wish I could, but the problem is that whichever console we land on, we need 2: one for me in my office and then one for our great room (my son and I game a lot together, and split screen is balls).

My wife has come to terms with that, but no way she'd let me have 3 of these

Oh definitely. And truth me told, I couldn't care less about the Kinect. I think it's an absolute waste of resources, both in terms of cost and the CPU/GPU sharing that's going on in the Xbone... resources that it CLEARLY needs if it has any aspirations of longevity.

Hey does anyone know where to view your current downloads? The PS4 puts them in your notifications but the XB1 doesn't seem to show them in a centralized location.

Go to "My Games & Apps", between snap and disc on the home screen. It will show what is downloading, percentage done and anything that's queued.

For anyone who has played forza a bit when do you get out of the awful tutorial? It is highly annoying. When can I get to the menu to buy and upgrade cars and choose races at my leisure? I seem to be stuck going from race to race with some commentary. I wish I could opt out of this but it doesn't appear you can.

Hmm seems like Live is sort of working right now. I'm trying to fix my Gamerpic though, and it's not going well. :(

Edit:

But this software is a buggy mess. The Avatars app just doesn't work I hit B a bunch of times and now the app is just a black screen.

The bitrate's too low. I'm not sure if it was due to hardware limitations, or if it's because MS was trying to reduce file sizes.... but, I hope it can be fixed in a patch soon.

How in the world do you sync another controller!? I hit the stupid sync button on the left side and it just makes some weird sound effect and nothing happens. Honestly, using the OS has been nothing short of infuriating so far. You can tell that if was built on a Windows kernel given the silly console naming policy of no spaces. :/

I feel us early adopters are in for a rough ride these first couple of months until MSFT can iron out all of the kinks.

Software issues I can deal with, but if it turns out there are widespread HW failures like the RROD it will be a disaster for MSFT.

Hardware failures so far seem limited to the Kinect and the BlueRay drive. That's a good thing in my opinion. If it's going to break on you, it's going to bust out of the gate. The RRoD creeped up on you like a pedo in the shadows. At least with the Kinect you can still play, thankfully.

PS4 has its overheating problem, but it's usually pretty evident it's going to happen: the console will get really hot out of the gate. If your console isn't hot to the touch, you didn't get a "sabotaged" one.

I haven't tried it yet, but I read it's done using the Kinect?

That's why I owned a PS3 and Xbox 360. Got the great exclusives of PS3 and the awesome multiplayer of Xbox. I plan on buying my Xbone when Titanfall comes out.

Holy hell. I guess it's going to be a console war after all. I figured the PS4 would be the clear winner.

Now is this actual retail sales? Or shipped units?

The Xbox One sold out. Which should have been expected news, given the really large amount of pre-orders on the system.

PS4 vs Xbox One sales will probably be determined by who has the stronger supply chain. At least for these first few months.

Which is good news for everyone, since we're headed for a healthy install base pretty quickly. Devs won't be afraid to develop for these new systems... and we can FINALLY move forward from the Xbox360/PS3 era.

I saw something about the controller having IR sensors and Kinect picking it up, so I tried to make sure that I was close enough to the Kinect after turning the controller on or pushing the sync button on the controller or after pushing the sync button on the console. None of that seemed to work, so rather than sit there getting frustrated, I just turned the stupid console off. :|

I'm not really a huge fan of the OS at this point either. It doesn't help that Kinect's voice integration is fairly lackluster, but stuff is just sort of tucked away deep in the recesses. I wanted to change the settings, but I couldn't find it at first. Fortunately, the voice commands was actually able to open it properly (unlike trying to snap Skype earlier), and then I found that there's an entire app section if you hit the tiny app square (that square should be huge and noticeable!).
