WHOOT

Saw no one replied to your offer of sending procs on behalf of the cluster. ;)
Am not one of the operators, but I'm sure ONE OF THEM is checking in soon to tell if your procs are needed. I think, they would make a fine addition. :D:p

And, another note:
Welcome to the team

Peter.

Ok ,good news about the Aopen LX chipset mbrd ,the USB sockets are good so you can plug in a USB keyboard their ,though the mrd doesn't seem to support a USB mouse:confused:.
The serial port works fine so between those 2 you can get around the dead PS2 ports:).
I've even plugged in a CD ROM & HDD & installed an OS to make sure everything else works & its all good:)

So the question is ,can you use this mbrd & how much will shipping to the USA cost?

Confused
Whats happening with your gear you were going to sell?

Hot damn I didn't think of that! ,tell you what ,its yours if you promise to run a DC project for TA on it!
(less shipping costs for me & it still goes to TA;))

(I might be able to scrounge a PII 233 as well if need be?)
Forgot to mention that it'll support upto a Celeron 533 (not FC aka 'A' version though)

As a tester I'm running a couple of WUs on it with a Cel 366@458 (83MHz FSB)

Mark,

Chuck the stuff in the back of the car when you come to mine, and then we can have a chat about the stuff, and if needbe, pop to the post office and see how much it'll cost to ship, and we can go from there :)

lol assim :) can you not use it urself ? obv if its just gonna sit there collectin dust i'll fire it up, got an ATX ps sitting around here, what does it take in terms of RAM ? only got 72 pin spare. i reckon i can get a hd for it, no CPU tho - what's the score there ? let me know what's appening, give it 2 weeks (get first pay packet then) and i can sort out the postage :) cheers bud :D - PS we ever get anywhere about that ENTERPRISE-UK thing ?

Don't worry about the postage mate ,I was going to pay to ship it to the states anyway.
It only takes SDRAM so use your postage money to buy some PC100 (so you can run it at 83MHz;))

I have no plans to use it ,its been siting in my cupboard for months. It was my mothers mbrd ,unfortunatley when I went to re-install windows on her PC my keyboard died & took the PS2 ports with it!:| (yeah I compensated her:p).She's got a 1.2GHz Duron now on an A7V133:).Anyway I was going to bin the mbrd when I realised much latter on that I could use it with the USB/serial ports!(don't tell my mother that!).Tested it the other day & both USB & serial ports work. Will be good to see it in a good home again;)

At some point I plan to get a BX mbrd to run the Cel 366@550 (sorry keeping that cpu) so I don't need the LX mbrd which inccidently is an Aopen AX6LC ,unusual for its time in having h/ware monitoring (ext cpu temp, all voltages, cpu & case fan speed) & can boot from CDROM.
A work colleage (Ian) has a spare PII 233 & maybe a little SDRAM sitting around ,I may have done him enough favours to get it free;) ,we'll see ,if he gives it to me you can have it for nothing:).
Btw with the couple of PII 233s I've played around with before they both happily ran at 293MHz (3.5x83) ,or you could trawl the Micromart adds & find a cheap Celeron .Looks like a 433 would be ideal giving 540MHz at 83MHz FSB or a 466 on a 75FSB giving 525MHz (a safer bet) if you don't like the high PCI bus speed;).I have 3 spare generic slockets here ,I know 1 of them gives slight instabilities so I'll give ya all 3 & you can test it for yourself;)

As for the UK Enterprise ,I think that was Garries idea but the plan fell through when he had to move...........I think thats the story anyway!

right, well this will be a crack rack type affair, what's that util that will let me connect to it remotely ? think its called VNC, will av a look at that in a min. anyways, i reckon i got everything covered except for CPU, for the time being i can't afford one or some RAM, it'll be beginning of may when i have some spare cash (i hope) so if you send it on when ur ready, and we'll take it from there. Any particular preference as to what should be run on it ? If not then i'll stick DF on it cos that's what i'm running. Wondering what the fastest proc i could stick in there would be, probs 533 o/c to 666 if i could, but i'm thinking i could get a newer celery and underclock it perhaps...... will look into that :) good lookin out fellas !

right, looks to me that the best chip i can stick in there is a 766 celery, after that they all went to 100 fsb. so, 766 celery it is ! they're going for very cheap on ebay, so don't bother sending any cpu's, i'll nab one of them :) cheers fellas !
