Woah! ,I did say the mbrd doesn't support FCPGA Celerons! ,fastest PPGA Celeron made was a 533 & these are very poor overclockers ,it is very likely that a 533 PGA won't be able to run on a 75MHz FSB (600MHz) ,hence my earlier recomendations.
If you want to play it safe get a Celeron 466 & run it on a 75MHz FSB giving 525MHz:).That Celeron core in general won't go much above 540-560MHz area ,older ones (300-333) won't go much above 450-500

Inccidently it has finished a WU on SETI ,here's the result.

2003 Apr 04 00:52 12.695,16.18 0.421 Assimilator1 Celeron 366 @458MHz 13:13
Not too bad:)

As to which project you run on it ,how about you run SETI on it for 2 weeks then its upto you after that?:)

you did indeed, now that i look at it... But i was thinking, is the FCPGA support not something that the slocket can handle ? Had a look, and the celery 766 uses copermine 128, that needs 1.65v and the board will supply that, so could i not cop hold of a slocket that'll support FC and be done with it ? incidently, SETI is fine by me, what account u want it to crack for ? ;)

Hmm, I really doubt that it can support FC Cel ,the mbrd needs to support them as well as the slocket (unless you buy 1 of those stupidly expensive power leap adapters).Alternatively a slocket with its own VRM but I doubt you'll find 1, & the mbrds bios may still have trouble running a FC cpu.

I found this page about the mbrd & the bios listings say nothing about FC Celerons (though I did notice there's a newer bios for it that can support HDDs over 33GB:))

Where did you see that the mbrd will supplie 1.65v?........nm I've just seen in the manual it says from 1.3 to 3.5v!:Q.
Ok in that case it just leaves bios support as an issue ........damn it! ,do you know what? ,I had a FC PIII here until Monday just gone which I could of tested it with!
rolleye.gif
.
Afraid the risk is yours as to whether or not a FC PGA Celeron will work with it ,I haven't turned up any info about it yet either way.

I asked Ian about the RAM ,he said he's got 1 128Mb PC100 stick ,he'll possibley sell it for £5 ,but that depends if he checks out new prices;) (Ebuyer do them for £16),do you want his RAM?

Re SETI account ,you can run it for your account mate:)

Oopps ,just noticed we've hijacked the thread!

righto, sort us out with his ram then, can't send any £ till at least monday tho cos my money doesn't come in till then. And talking of money, i get 95 quid a month, and i owe £200 on one card, £80 on another and £12 over drawn :( looks like it'll only be minimum payments all round this month - bring on my first pay packet ! BTW, am thinking about how i'm gonna hook this all up to the net, am thinking run some cat 5 from my garage, little hub for them both 2 connect to, but will need a router of sorts to hook up to my cable modem. off to trawl ebay / google for info about the FC and routers etc etc. might blag my mate into giving me an old PC to make into a smoothwall :D

If your only gonna have 2 PCs (don't know how many you have though) ,you could link them up just using a crossover lead .Then for your cable modem you could either hitch it up to the USB port or have 2 NICs in your main rig.The LX mbrd doesn't need to be on the net (though you could do it via ICS) as you can just run SETIQ on your main rig.
I'll post the mbrd & RAM on Tuesday or wednesday:)

Btw glad to hear you've got a new job:)

Thought, maybe you wait till i get some £ then i can send u the £5 for the RAM and u can send the lot at once ? Can't afford a proc until paypacket at least, so no rush. what ya think bud ? as for connecting the two up i could have 2 nics in my machine..... am thinking now :D will cross that bridge when i come 2 it :) bring on Enterprise UK :D

I don't mind sending the RAM with the mbrd before the £s ,I think I can trust you as a TeAm mate;).
Btw if your going to be stuck without a CPU for sometime maybe I could get him to give away the PII 233?;)
If you need another NIC I have an ISA 1 here you can have ,lmk.

I think we should switch to PMs about this from now ,best we stop hijacking the thread;)

I think he ordered 5 initially for the cost savings, but I'm not sure how many are actually set up and running at this point, or how many will be up and running when all the boards are installed.

Hey everyone... My ears were burning from the feeling of someone talking about me.

Actually I have been very busy with the Air National Guard, but no worries.
I'm here, just very busy at the moment with my employer and other things. I haven't had a
weekend off since I can possibly remember, so this last weekend I finally took time to do a
few things at the house. :)

My boss had me attend a few computer conferences last week, so to say the least you
can definitely tell it's almost summer!

With the BEOWULF, I have one entire rack full and the second had to go back to the
factory for minor changes in the main motherboard shelf. The times I had to use the keyboard
and mouse, the cables were hitting the power supply, so I had it fixed. The factory is waiting
for me to give them the green light to have 4 more racks punched out. (1st rack was considered
the prototype; it doesn't count against the order)

A few things for everyone:

We've had a few weeks running the systems we have online now, but we
should probably talk about the power bill for the upcoming
months. I can handle the bills for a good while yet, but I like to keep food on the
table too. Can anyone think of a way we can generate some residual income? :)

Glad to hear you're ok, LANMAN, and the rack is crunching away. How many WU/day is this sucker putting out?

<-- is ignorant because he doesn't follow SETI stats much.

Hmm how to pay for the power bills.

Do you know anyone in Tennessee? They pay for electricity at cost! As some of you know back in the depression, FDR did alot of projects for the new deal. Well one was the TVA or somethign like that. Tennessee still didn't have electricity and such so they passed an act to get all the goodies. Its gov't ran so they don't make profit!

Other than that, you could get someone to host one in a dorm or such, just somewhere they don't pay for their electricity...

Now I know if it was me I would not wan't to lose my grip on the cluster so I would just want some way to pay for it. Hmmm I will be thinking....

About 9-10 per day. I have one more rack to put together so the number will go a lot higher, but just like in the previous post, the main board is under minor modifications.

I thought about making an attempt on selling a few of the racks on Ebay in hopes of generating a few bucks for the electric bill, but we'll see.
