And from ground to one black lead is how u get 120 volts.
So basicly to ballance the transformer load one room uses one black wire and the next room uses the other black wire.
(Also it prevents problems of bad case grounds of having 220 volts if you touch 2 different outlets that use 2 different wires and bad appliances or stereos or whatever.)

So what I did was behind the wall where the built in meter is I paralleled one black wire to bypass one black wire and now the meter run half as slow. I did this at the right time of the year so the power co-op wouldn't inspect.

well just for some more neff post points. You can repair high voltage wires from a helicopter. You get a guy settting on a out rigger and then you have all the differential potential between the wire and the helicopter, you have the guy reach with a rod and attach a cable to the power line so the cable connected to the helicopter and power line have the same potential and then you can work on the powerline.

I'm back!! :D

Time to shoot off some email on the rack prices and see what we have in store. My flight didn't get in until 1am this morning so I've been recooping on sleep, therefore we probably won't hear an answer until next week.

I can't wait to get back to my office and see what great things I have sitting on my desk!? :D

Another bump!!

Where've you been?

I had to take a few weeks off for the Air Force National Guard. They sent me to Gulfport, MS for my next skill level in the computer field, so in case anyone is wondering, no I didn't learn much, and it was increadibly boring, except the trip to New Orleans! :D

We saw a four story building on fire as we left downtown at 11:00p only to be stopped by a car accident on the highway where a truck pulling a boat was almost flipped over and a car right next to the curb was on it's top with someone laying on the ground right next to it.

After a day there I have come to one conclusion about New Orleans: It's a place where adults (30-70) come to feel like 18 again! I saw some crazy stuff I can't mention on this forum!

Well I'll tell you about one incident even though I shouldn't:

**** WARNING *****

DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH!!

Our first stop was to get a bite to eat before the nightly crowd arrived, so we (6 of us) got a huge table. One of the guys in our class was sitting at the head of the table when I saw him turn his head to block what he just saw. After noticing his quick movements, I asked him, "What's wrong with you? What did you see?"

Then he pointed and told me to look at a guy across the room next to the window. Then I almost lost it. (From laughing that is!!)
Some dude about 280 lbs. was trowing up in his glass (which obvioiusly over flowed from his massive comsumption) and eventually threw up all over the floor.

I can't believe this guy didn't excuse himself and get to the bathroom to take care of business. He did manage to get the bill paid and out the door before the waitress found out. She was Pi$$ed!!

Anyway this was a little OT for this thread, but I just had to share it. :D

Missed all your posts and the daily stats!!! Now lets get this BEOWULF running !!! :D :D

I ignored the warning, even though I should have known better, and read that. Yuck. And to think I'm going to be eating lunch in a few minutes. :disgust: ;)

The quotes for the racks are on the way today!! I told them they could hold on to the motherboard and power supply incase they needed
to use them during the process.

I was going to tell them to go ahead and just make the first one, but its probably better to see the figures first.

After clearing off my desk, I have received packages from Matthew, Martin and Sean. :D (It isn't Christmas yet.. ;) )

I don't know about you all, but the end of this year is busy! I have to put in another T-1 circuit with routers to another building by Jan 1.
IBM just shafted me on two "All-in-One" PC's when they told me they had 12 in stock and later I find out that they actually didn't have any.

My goal though is now to have the first rack together and running all available motherbaords before Chirstmas!! :D
I'm just hoping they can build one just a bit faster then what it took to design it.

I have plans on going over to the hosting site later this week. I'll go through all the hardware one more time and bring everyone up to date on
what we have. For all of you that donated parts, please send me a PM with your address.

Thanks!!

Hey - don't talk about LANMAN that way. :Q :p

You weren't in the Off Topic forum, were you? :Q;)

************* Now back to the program **************************

Ok everyone, I have the quotes for the rack and I will be buying a Stainless Steel rack for the first one out the door. This way I can take some digital pics
(yes I said PICS) to let everyone see what they look like. We need at least 5 to get the price to go down.

DETAILS ***

All racks are 18Gauge Steel:

Stainless Steel: :D

1 rack $315.00
2-5 racks $255.00
10 racks $235.00

Steel Unpainted

1 rack $240.00
2-5 $175.00
10 - $160.00

Steel Painted:

1 - $310.00
2-5 - $235.00
10- $225.00

If we can get more donations, I'll purchase the first two racks to get us up and running. Anyone want one for their basement? :D
(After you see the PICs of couse) But at least you now know the price per unit. Obviously this doesn't include shipping so take that
into consideration since it will be somewhat heavy.

LET ME KNOW !!!

That put the order standing at 3 SS racks. Anyone else?? :D

I'd buy the other two, but I kinda want mine now while I have the extra money. :Q

Or if we can get more pay pal donations, I'll keep what's in there already and use that towards a rack and
I'll see to it the power stays on. :)

I haven't got to it yet, but it should be workable. In the past I bought a special pair of needle nose plyers just for projects like that. :)

I asked if I could take some pics during the production of the rack, so we'll see if I get a response. They have a laser that cuts the metal so they can use every sq/in of the sheet with little to no waste. Very cool !!
