Nope, he wants to order 5 racks to get it cheaper. One seems to be going to networkman but I think he wont buy more than 2 for himself so he needs more buyers.

So far, I've not even seen the design schematics to get an idea of what this rack is going to look like. :Q I'm just trusting LANMAN's (hopefully) good judgement on what will work for the crackrack. My initial order of 1 unit is not to say that I won't take more than one, I just want to see the product before I commit to more units. ;)

I started a CAD drawing of what I want. But if this design is good enough I might just dump my design and get this one..... Sure would save a lot of money. :)

I'll have to give them to you when I get my documents back from the engineers.

It's about 36" wide giving you 6" per motherboard, 18" high and I forget the depth. More detailed and accurate information when I get it.

I got to talk to the the CAD person lastnight and unfortuately a power surge hit the power grid in their area blowing out the motherboard on the
$700,000 laser cutting machine they use for 80% of their products. :Q:Q:Q :|

They have a company coming in for repairs, but this will no doubt delay the release of the first prototype. :(

She did how ever say the estimating department was within one or two quotes left and then they will be on to ours! :D At least
hopefully this week we'll find out what the racks will cost us for either, steel, painted steel, or stainless steel.

These questions have probably already been answered, but i'm really lazy today:

1. What is a guess on the price of 1 rack?
2. How many mobo's does one rack hold?

Asking because I MIGHT be interested in a rack :)

No one knows LyNx01.

By the way any new info on this?

[Edit] Actually there is a known number of motherboards it holds. But I don't remeber what it is. [/Edit]

This needs more than a bump. :) Active solititation for support is always welcome no matter where it comes from. ;) Also can we use/modify THIS picture? :D

Well, if his design is anything like others that I've seen at various places on the web, I'd guess at around 4 to 8 boards per rack; any more than 8 boards per rack gets to be quite cumbersome considering the added weight of power supplies and drives and such. Also, since KVMs typically come in 2/4/8/16 port designs, designing a rack for just 2 boards is pretty much pointless, and 16 would be likely undoable for the reasons above. That's my guess.

I've no idea on the price.. I doubt even LANMAN does at this point since the first one hasn't even been done yet. :(

Do they have the CAD design even done yet? I wish I could of had my friend do it. He works in a large machine shop and all he does is the CAD designs. :p

RemyCanad,

The CAD drawing is completed. (Has been for quite some time) We're waiting for the estimate department to contact me on the $$ for the first rack.
They are also going to provide me with costs of regular steel (which will rust very quickly), painted steel or stainless steel. I'm all for stainless myself,
but I think that will definitely come at a premium cost.

LyNx01,

To answer your question, the rack will hold six (6) boards. The reason for six is because it will be the largest configuration for the shelf, but yet be manageable
in size if you want to move it. You will also have the option of bolting down one rack on top of the first one with mounting points, then it's up to you on how
high you want to go with it. :)

Well I am sure the stainless steel is gonna cost tons more. I know that it does cost a ton more. And on top of that working with stainless steel is a lot harder so the labor will be higher. :(

You wanna slip that CAD drawing over here so I can make a 3D model of it. ;) Or is the design gonna be a big surpise. :)

Because of a patent pending status, I won't be able to release the specs just yet. ;)

I will however, put a link to a pic once I get a rack in my hands! :D

Do we have an up-to-date parts list? or is the first post accurate? I ask because I have that 533celeron sitting here and I need to know if the project still needs it.

Oh and my pledged board will be sent out soon(meesa forgetted all about it
