I'm itching for a racing game. I could get Forza Horizons 2 at the same price but Turn 10's DLC scheming irks me more than a bad launch. If Drive Club still isn't good I'd rather just skip both entirely and wait for the next game (Project Cars??)..

Horizon 2 is great. I got a great deal on it anyway after trading in cod aw and using gcu. I have a lot of fun with it and there is plenty to do that I don't even bother with dlc. See if you can rent drive club from a red box or something.

No idea but it was suppose to be free for psn plus and that never happened.

I don't think it will be the full game though, from what I could tell it would be like an enhanced demo.

I've also gotten interested in it lately, especially with the impressive weather update that just went out. However, I can't seem to find too many user reviews, but the ones I've seen they really seem to like it. I suspect the psn version will drop early next year so I'll wait to decide on it then. Course, that will get it pretty close to that project cars game if it holds to its current t release date. Hopefully that turns out well, seems PlayStation kind of lacks in good racing games, and I've little hope for grand tourismo, since the last couple have been incredibly sterile.

Downloaded loadout last night, anyone else playing? Played a couple rounds, and it seems fun (is also on PC) but a bit pay to win so not sure I'll stick with it.

I've got forza 2 to keep me occupied for racing. I just renewed my psn so I'll have to check that game out. I haven't even activated my one year of live yet. I think I will do so when I find something I want to play online.

Looks like there is an article on engadget about plex app coming to ps4. Now I have plex on my pc but I'm not sure if it will be free to use on ps4 to stream stuff from a pc.

The first read through seems like you will need a Plex subscription, but I'm not sure.

Yea I think even on Xbox if you want to use it it costs money. But on the Xbox it shows up under media server as long as it's running on my pc. I've left the Xbox one in the living room and moved the ps4 to my older 32inch tv in the bedroom. So using something to stream to that tv would be nice since I don't have a cable hookup to it.

If Sony would patch in media server support like the Xbox well then you just need plex on the pc.

You mean the PS4 can't detect media servers like the PS3 can?! Well, that's sorta scuttled my PS4 plans...I stream a LOT onto my PS3 from my PC using Universal Media Server. If I'm understanding correctly, that's not possible with a PS4 without extra software?

Not yet at least. Well now you may be able to do it with Plex but that's why I like the xbox one in the living room just for that reason.

why does buying a ps4 mean you can't use your ps3 anymore?

I was not going to keep the PS3. I was going to give it away if the PS4 could replace it.

Yeah, my PS3 is annoyingly not retired yet. I still need it to download and store Vita Games, and for some media streaming use. Apparently, DLNA is on the way soon though. Rumored early 2015.

So I need to pay $5 a month to stream my own local content to my PS4? Eff that. :colbert:

I found it kind of funny how people blew up at this announcement. You should've seen the comment thread on IGN!

No, the monthly fee that you're talking about (the Plex Pass subscription) is not specifically for streaming content to the PS4. Plex is a free program (for PCs), so rather than just ask for money (to support the company) and give nothing, they setup Plex Pass. Plex Pass mostly provides access to beta features, which is what the PS4 and Xbox One streaming are. Although, Plex seems to be pushing to add more features to Plex Pass to make it have a bit more value, but the features aren't really needed for core functionality.

So, in short, no, the fee is to use Plex. The problem is that Sony has taken too long, and Plex is currently the only way to stream media. However, I would bet dollars to donuts that the Plex setup will probably be better than Sony's setup. I've tried it on the X1, and it works great. It's pretty much just as good as the Windows 8 Metro app, but with a lot more categorization and suggestions.

Is plex for the PS4 free if you have the plex pass? I don't need it, as I have a roku on that tv, but it would be nice not to need it.
