2.0 borked the rest feature for me. Even doing Sony's "fixes" hasn't helped it. 🙁

Rest broke for the first time for me yesterday. Console was in rest mode with light pulsing orange and refused to wake up. I had to unplug the power and power it back on, which caused the system to go through a 5 minute process to check the disk for errors. First time that's happened, not sure if it's 2.0 related but I'm not using rest feature again to find out. Console was also warm to the touch despite being in rest mode for about 24 hours.

Yea that doesn't sound good. I rarely ever use it anyway. I have warranty but I'd rather not be without a console.

Yup, this is what's happening. The fix is to boot into safe mode and do a repair and another thing but it hasn't helped. Going to have to just turn it off after using it instead until its fixed.

Add me to the list. Put mine into rest mode while it was downloading a PS+ game. Came back several hours later and the fan was still going. Tried waking it up to see why the download was taking so long, but no response. I had to hold the power button down for ten seconds before it would turn off.

It's definitely a bug in FW 2.0. Seems to be more than isolated as well. A lot of people on Twitter are complaining about it. I get the feeling that Sony never does QA testing on their updates. 😛

Has anyone tried copying files to a USB drive? I first attempted with my SSD that's in a USB 3 enclosure... yeah, the PS4 does not accept NTFS, which isn't terribly surprising. So, I tried my FAT32-formatted USB 3 thumb drive. Nope. If I tried to copy files to the drive, it sat at 0% for a minute until the theme's music stopped, and the PS4's OS crashed. I'm using a really old USB 2 drive right now, and it's really slow.

EDIT:

Oh, and it's also ridiculously obtuse to even copy files to a USB drive. Why can't you do it from the share menu!? I have to go to Content Manager, which I didn't even know where to find it (it was under the unused applications section), and copy it over that way. C'mon, Sony! You gotta consider usability too.

Yea I never use the rest or sleep function unless I'm anticipating a game I want to trigger to download from work. But for the most part I keep it fully powered down.

It's really no big deal, though, because you can use the PS4's much-touted suspend and resume function to get right back into your game after turning teh system on

They haven't talked about that since E3 of 2013...I dunno why you think it's much touted. We just got share play and that was something they also talked about in 2013.

Which is cool because when my friend has a game and I'm not sure about it, I don't need a demo I can play it and make up my mind.

Always was like that for me until I deleted my entire message list which was pretty long. It's better now but not instant by any means.

Hmm I have maybe six messages total. I remember before the update it used to send and receive quickly. Now I need to wait at least 2-3 minutes each time I receive a message to be able to read it.

Yeah it was like that for me. I had to repeat it a few times and refresh and then sometimes it would work. Now I press delete and it works instantly but I don't have many messages anymore. Coincidence? I don't know.
