The only pickup@store stuff gamestop does is when you select a local store that has an item in stock. You can go pick it up locally instead of shipping. You pay the in-store price though. The website says that not all prices are the same between store and online. Which leads back to my convo with the local Manager I know. He would just match the price if it is different, but not all managers would do that.

This doesn't appear to be the same thing. I went to Yoshi's New Island and selected the Pickup@Store option, which is what I've seen in the past. That simply brought up the Hold for In-Store Pickup option where all you do is submit a request. I mentioned that as being the "old system" in the original post.

What I went through is completely different. This option first appears on your shopping cart where your shipping options are "ship to address" or "pick up at store". I added Yoshi's New Island to my cart and this option was not available. So, this might just be a way to pre-order games online.

Where to get Infamous...

If I manage to pick up MGS by Sat at TRU for the $10 card, I can do TRU 59.99 - 10% off and have $30 in gift cards...= 23.99 (getting MGS no matter what)

Or Gamestop with 15% off, apply my $5 for my in store pre order, and also have a $10 off coupon from rewards points = 35.99

I'm thinking Gamestop due to being able to get the bigger discount there and my TRU cards are basically cash that can be used on any other game I'm buying anyway. Looking at gift cards and rewards points as cash useable at any time, and which will ultimately be spent anyway with the same eventual game library resulting, the mathematician in me declares 15% vs 10% limited time discounts are all that matter and everything else is just a matter of expenditure distribution. 😀

I did confirm TRU is getting the Limited Edition, saw it in store and tried to buy. Damn computers making retailer's jobs idiot proof 😛

I've pre-ordered games from the website for a specific store before, that's not new. I'm just wondering how you can get the online discount code in the store and so far I haven't found a way to do that.

Meh. These political games companies play with launch dates, timing, region segmentation etc are stupid and I don't approve of such practices anyway.

Ultrasone's are not that great anyway. I just want to hear the virtual surround as intended by the developers, I'm not going to get that from the output jack on the gamepad and my FiiO HP amp doesn't even have optical in.
I've heard the TB demo setups at gamestop and at least the virtual surround has positional accuracy.

Well, I agree with street date for a specific region. You don't want one store getting an advantage due to simply shipping the game earlier than another. It makes it fair...I can see the reason for it there. Plus it prevents the old problem of games just popping up on the shelf out of nowhere.

Hmm I didn't even know that they had the feature. So, you don't think the local Gamestop will honor it? I could always try and cancel it if I don't "get my way".
 
That's odd they had it on display. Well when I was watching streaming on psn live people were talking about someone selling copies on eBay. They were prolly Canadian though so I think some people got the game early.

I didn't have time to check my TRU for mgs and the discount. I've been working about 10-12hrs a day since middle of last week...life of a developer as release gets closer and closer. Good thing I took off Friday because my brain is fried. I don't even have an urge to play titanfall and I've been playing that since it released.
 
I don't think I'm going to get ground zero either. I'll be paying about $39 bucks for infamous Friday with the $5 I put down and I found some cash laying around in clothes (love when that happens lol because I usually keep it for lunch at work).

I'll just get phantom pain when it's out.
 
I think I'm gonna transfer some money over from Destiny to Infamous since I paid off Destiny and it won't be out until September. Gonna try to do a marathon session this weekend if I don't go out.
 
I keep hearing about Destiny yet that game still has not interested me. Not sure if it's the whole sci fi nature or what. Are they suppose to have a beta? I hear it's going to be like a elder scrolls but bigger for the ps4.

They have a beta yeah but I dunno when it'll start. From what I know it's a story based FPS you play online with other people kind of like an MMO. From what I've read you can meet up with random people and they can help you with a quest or whatnot and leave at any time.

I'm a big Bungie fan so I'm excited for this game. I'm more fond of SciFi FPS titles these days than those that try to be realistic like CoD or BF. Prefer Killzone (as mediocre as the campaign was), Titanfall, Halo etc.
 
I guess I'll need to try the beta. With sci fi games I'm really iffy about. So it will be something I'll need to check out to see if I'll like it.
