I haven't heard anything on the next update. I'm not sure what it would include but from the looks of a few bugs people are having with the network and other issues, 3d support could be kinda low on their list right now.

For one, they need to update the os so that any hard drive is compatible. The site says any drive within laptop dimensions but that doesn't mean any hd will work. The spin point m8 1tb is not compatible, a few others aren't either.

Is there a list of confirmed working drives? Also what makes a certain drive not work? I mean...the drive is just a dummy device really and they are all made to the same standard SATA specifications laid out by the Serial ATA International Organization. Any device that adhers to the SATA-IO specs will be able to interface with any drive that uses the same interface. All that's needed is for the software to format the drive so it can be read properly by the device.

I guess what I'm wondering is what makes a specific drive not work when they all have the same set of standards?

So far no official list but I did find this:
http://www.gamepur.com/news/12730-p...-hdd-new-one-and-ps4-hdd-compatible-mode.html

I had the same question. Any linux based system can recognize a hd. With the new consoles running on x86 architecture I'm not sure why some do not work. It has to do something with the ps4 software.

My friend bought the m8 spinpoint 1tb, used the proper update file, the one with 890Mb as this one has the full os on it for installation, it installed on the new hd, but when it finished and rebooted, he just had a black screen with the blue light pulsing. He put in the original hd and as a test used the update file to reinstall the os on it just like you would for a bigger hard drive, and it worked fine.

I bought whatever hd they used in the ign video of how to upgrade your ps4 hd.

So it has to be software related somehow. They also need an update if possible for the wireless driver, although I'm not sure if that is possible. If the WiFi card could be improved in terms of functionality and speed through drivers that would be great.

Glad the PS4, at least in theory, can run any HD. I just upgraded the hard drive on a fat PS3 this weekend and it could hardly have been easier. It was incredibly painless. Is Microsoft still requiring you pay stupid prices and buy their equipment for an HD upgrade?

EDIT: Yeah MS is playing around again; it voids warranty. Nonsense: http://www.inquisitr.com/1048917/ps...tion-4-hard-drive-is-much-easier-to-swap-out/

Later on you can plug in any USB HDD (it has USB 3.0 support).

I'm assuming later we should also have support for other headsets and mics. You can use a bt Mic by pairing it, I have one I used on the ps3 but I prefer the one it came with.

Gamebeat recently had an article about free2play mmo War Thunder that supported keyboards, mice and flight sticks. The official Site says it was released and will eventually support PC vs PS4 interplay.

Well, MS is specifically addressing this through external storage as will Sony eventually. Both systems come with USB 3.0 which has more than enough bandwidth to handle what they need. At some point in the semi-near future we will be able to connect 1 (or potentially more) external harddrives to our consoles which will then be added to the pool for system use.

Whether either company will require some sort of first party external drive remains to be seen, but at least for now there are options on the horizon that don't involve opening the console up. I'm not saying this is necessarily a better option than swapping out the internal drive, but it's definitely simpler.

Thx for the input. Gonna give it a shot

Yeah I don't mean to sound like I'm crapping but that's honestly what I think.

I tried it and found it to be decent but it needs more players to join up with. Obviously don't expect it to rival Killzone or BF4 in any way going in though.

My brother has active, they seem to have less of a darkening effect compared to passive. Only tried them during PS3 games though.

You definitely have a permanently dark filter over your eyes with the passive 3D glasses as the glasses are very similar to sunglasses -- straight down to the inability to view smartphone screens! Although, active glasses do interchangeably shutter your eyes, which does look kind of weird. Passive TVs also display both eye's content at the same time, but they do it via alternating lines. That means you only get 1920x540 per eye. Theaters don't have this problem because they use two projectors. I still like passive because it works better with my glasses.

Yeah I know and I will, but I was on Amazon and thought it might be worth grabbing the 3D version. Sounds like we could be waiting a while though.

My problem with 3D movies like that is that they're just too expensive. Most 3D movies are released at $35, and they usually don't see price breaks compared to their 2D brethren. Amazon did have a few 3D movies on sale, but they were $15 compared to $8 for the 2D movies. Dredd was probably the best 3D sale this past week as I think it was only $8.

There is no Microphone inside the controller. There is a mic with the mono headset.

You can use the mono headset plugged into the controller as a mic with mono sound, you can then select the PS4 to just send you chat audio to the headset with the rest of the game sound sent out the HDMI.

Or you can send all audio to the mono headset, which cuts off the sound to HDMI.

I haven't found a way to send all audio to the HDMI with the mono headset plugged in.

That's what I want

Anyone else finish AC4 yet? I just completed the story. I noticed they want you to rate the memories in the game.

No spoilers here, after finishing it I can safely say that I absolutely and 100% do NOT like the sage idea at all. None of the past games mentioned it at all and it seemed thrown in from out of nowhere. I also found the modern day bits to be super boring and worthless, even hacking the computers for more info didn't get me anything interesting. There was no "ah ha!" moment at all there.

I really do wish Ubisoft would stop acting like the modern day scifi saga is interesting anymore. It's really not, not after the 3rd one and they killed off one of the characters. It also doesn't look even close to half as good as the main game.

I'm really enjoying it. I'm only half way through the game going by the sequences, but I've collected an ungodly amount of stuff so far (all places I visit I collect everything before leaving), have my ship nearly fully upgraded, fleet max'd out, and hideout max'd out as well.

I like the rate the memories thing. I read something from one of the devs that said they put that in so they can see what missions people enjoyed and didn't and can improve for future games. I think it is a great way to get feedback from gamers and it really benefits us (gamers) to do it as it will (hopefully) improve future games.

Eurogamer updated their PS4 launch sales I posted earlier.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-12-02-playstation-4-uk-launch-sales-are-over-250k

PS4 : 250k in 48 hours.
XBO: 170k in 2 weeks.
WIU: 150k in ~1 year.
XBO could be supply issues, since they all sold out AFAIK. Wii U, it's a demand issue. The console just can't compete this generation; it's going to get left in the dust and be nothing more than a Nintendo game machine. Just as some of us said a year back when it came out.
