It's cool and all, but it isn't a very positive spin on gamers because this is what I took out of it:

1. I apparently sit wrong when I play games. Unless I'm hunched over like I'm about to attack the TV...

2. I'm glad even with my love of video games I don't still live in my parents house when I was going on 30.

3. By PS4 Even his GF/s are like...OK enough of this loser who still lives with his parents

4. Video games waste your life and your money.

:hmm:

You do realize the Xbox One has a mandatory day 1 update right?
All the 180's they pulled are in that day 1 update as well as whatever else.
This is the new norm for consoles since they are no more just gaming machines, was only a matter time they would follow games in regards to day 1 patches/updates

The Wii U also had a day one update. It was a whopping 1GB download IIRC. PS4 Firmware 1.5 is only 300mb.

Heh I didn't get that feeling from it at all. Although it's too long for a real commercial. I like how they went through the history of Playstation a bit though.

It wasn't a feeling. It's exactly what it showed 🙂 even if that's not what they intended.

I did think the subtle pan from the PSX to the PSOne (wasn't that the name) was a cool very minor catch it moment. The rest were pretty obvious.

Anyone else have their Dualshock 4 yet? Didn't realize it, but Amazon is shipping mine and apparently Gamestop is already selling them.

I may pick one up on amazon since I have a prime trial membership. Good to have two controllers because I have one ps3 controller and have to keep charging it

Any clue on if Gran Turismo 6 will ever hit the PS4 platform? That game would be the only reason I'd get the PS4, I think it's kind of silly that those guys developed for the PS3 knowing the PS4 was on the horizon, Turn10 did with Forza 5.

I'm waiting on some YouTube videos before I take the plunge. I've got $435 in gamestop credit burning a hole in my pocket

I agree that the commercial makes it seem like video games waste your life. I'd have expected samuel to move in the 15+ years that video lapses but he still is super messy and lives in the same crappy studio apartment or room he grew up in.

None of the Gamestops in my area have DS4 controllers in yet. Maybe some locations get them early for logistical purposes or something. I would have grabbed mine early in order to try using it on PC which apparently it does work with.

I was at the local Gamestop yesterday, and they didn't seem to have controllers. However, they did have that Energizer charging station in stock. Amazon sent me an e-mail update saying that I'd get my controller by Wednesday (10/30).

We might get it down the road, but it is currently a no iirc. It isn't silly that they put it out for the PS3 either. Install base alone on the PS3 insures more sales, than Sony doesn't have a habit of dropping support on their older consoles as soon as they put out a new one either.

The PS4 launch could of been insane if they wanted too. Instead of releasing The Last of Us, God of War Ascension, Puppeteer, Beyond Two Souls, Sly Cooper 4, Ratchet and Clank Into the Nexus, Gran Turismo 6, and Rain. Dunno if I missed any, but those all are they put out this year alone.

Makes sense to release them on the PS3 and it insures that they continue to support their products well even when a new one is about to come out.

I don't think they ever stop working on Gran Turismo.

Well they are the slowest considering what comes out in comparison to say Forza series. I'm sure it's possible for them to be more efficient, if not then they need to make all 1200 car models premium inside and out.

Turn 10 Studios is an American company, and Polyphony Digital is a Japanese company. Why do I bring that up? Well, at times, Japanese companies can be borderline ridiculous in their obsession with perfection, and it really shows in their obscene development times. Final Fantasy XV has been in development since Q1 of 2006. It will probably take them around eight years just to finish it. Blizzard started developing World of Warcraft in 1999 and released it in 2004. Blizzard is probably one of the slowest Western developers, and they can release a MMORPG faster than Square-Enix can release a RPG.

I really like some of these Japanese companies, but my goodness... they need a proverbial swift kick in the pants!

That may be but I certainly didn't notice the perfection with GT 5, especially the horrid menu system.:colbert:

The makers said no, GT7 they hope to release within 4 years.

FTFY

Gran Turismo is a technical masterpiece but I feel it's one of those games that sacrifices gameplay to make it look pretty. AI and the antiquate career mode need some serious TLC. After six different versions of the game, computer controlled cars still run on a rail and barely react to what the player does. And the grinding. Oh god the grinding.

Picked up a used Vita yesterday. Going to get my remote play on!

I'm one of the few people who prefers the Vita over the 3DS. It's a really under-rated system. Proper remote play is one of my most anticipated features for the PS4.
