I think sony learned from the PS3 release flop. Where it was over hyper, and over priced (for the market not for hardware). And tried to do too much at once.

the x1 seems to be following the same path.

I wonder if theres a 3rd console curse.

At least with the PS3, a lot of people defended it because it did have some pretty advanced technology in it. I dont see anyone defending the Xbone.

I mean, lets recap:
Its slower
Its $100 more expensive
It comes with always online insert-anal-probe DRM.

Even if you think Kinect is amazing, its a pretty tough sell.

If it didn't look UGLIER than the Xbox One I would pre-order it right now, but I'll need to let it sink in for a few hours at least.

Are you serious? It looks just like a super sized version of PS2. The front looks hella clean. I love the angled profile.

I've loved playing my xbox, but I think I'm going to get a PS4 for my next console. The price and game DRM is too much.

I think they both are ugly, but the PS4 is the worst of the two. I don't like the angled look and it just is ugly. I wish both companies would hire a design company and not let someone that works there design them.

i sure hope that sony makes psn as good as xbl for online gaming. with the quality of psn now, if i had to pay $5/mo for that shit for online play, i would be heated.

My little brother has psn plus. He gets more features than regular psn. Not sure if the servers are better or not. But I would expect that since we will pay to play now, that they could improve at least that part of it.

If I order on amazon did anyone get the extra warranty? How does it work you send it back to amazon? I know in a store you usually take it in and they send it for repair.

right now ps+ gives you no better servers or anything. but ps+ doesn't give you access to play ps3 online, that part is free.

and that is what im saying - if they don't change psn infrastructure, and you pay monthly to get the current psn online gaming quality, then that is going to be whack. psn online gaming quality is total shit compared to xbl. so now that we will be paying to play online, i sure hope they do something to make it better.

With XBL moving to all dedicated servers as well, I can only see that experience improving. I can't imagine PSN would lag that far behind in quality, especially if they are making you pay for it now.

And what is up with the "meaningful friends" crap they talked about? Am I going to have to use my Facebook for my friendslist? Some social media crap I don't care about?

That's not happening ever. People would be in an uproar about consumer confusion etc etc etc.

Buy a switch.

Consumer confusion over 2 models? BS. There would be no such thing. I know it's a pipe dream, but let's not make up issues.

As for a switch, that's just a clunky solution. If it came to that, I'd just retire my PS3.

This. Sounds like they are committed, but Microsoft has lightyears on Sony for UI and collaboration design and IT network and server infrastructure being a PC IT juggernaut since the beginning of time.

Not that Kingdom Hearts is multiplayer, but still if MS doesn't drop their totalitarian DRM crap I'm eventually stuck on PS+ for multiplayer too now so they better fix it.

Please explain how pan us total shit because I don't see it. Besides the outage a few years ago I've never had a single issue

I bet Microsoft does all the same stuff before launch. They'll lower the price and get rid of drm.

Best case scenario and a HUGE win for consumer rights and DRM freedom in general. If MS fails or backs down, nobody else will dare attempt this again for a long long time.

I love that Sony specifically used the phrase something like, that they believe in "consumer ownership of digital content". The whole if you buy something you're free to do with it as you please mentality is A+

Now gamers/consumers need to prove that's what they want with their wallets and start supporting developers and quit being cheapskates so everyone is happy.

play a game online on psn, then play the same game online on xbl. it's night and day as far as the lag, connection, matchmaking, etc. goes.

if all you've ever experienced is psn then you have nothing to compare it to, so i can understand why you think it is okay.

plus xbl is integreated into the overall framework (guide) of the x360, whereas psn is not. so the game invites in one game on ps3 may be totally different than the game invites on another game, whereas on xbl all invites are pretty much the same way and are sent through the guide.

Some of that may be due to the ps3 itself. I dunno

i have both and play both and TBH i dont see any difference. what you described are differences in the UI, it still functions fine and i actually prefer the way sony does it.

Playing games online is way different. Street Fighter on PSN vs XBL is night and day for sure. And it is not just UI differences that make invites and such not persistent. XBL is built into the system, and more so for the Xbox One. I just hope Sony can get into the game and build it into the PS4's system.

They will integrate the messaging into the same core system. Previously it was running in a separate service which is why it took forever if you had a lot of messages..or lagged.

The PS4 looks great. I am bummed that it does not have Backwords compatablity. but i do understand why. I do admit it would be a major selling price for me.

other then that the system looks really good.

I just hope they get more RPG games. not the movie type RPG but good JRPG games like the orginal FF or Dragon warrior games.

hmm i have played online on both. I didn't notice a difference at all.

Though i will say i liked Xbox's home board more then the PS3's

Thay has nothing to do with Sony and everything to do with Square getting its head out of its ass and stop catering to FPS mainstream.
