I'm glad everyone in here knows exactly how this is being used and how it works in games. Must be nice.

Chill out and wait until the thing is demoed and talked about publicly.

If it's anything like the vita, then I'm not sure if I'd welcome it. In some games, I find the incessant push to use the rear touch panel to be quite annoying. Especially with Lumines where tapping on it raises your special meter (much faster than through normal play), and more specials can easily help you keep your screen clear. Speaking of Lumines, I need to find someone that can just tap on the back for me while I play. 😛

If it's a screen on the controller (touch or otherwise), there's nothing more I need to know. Console controllers should be operated purely by tactile feel. Looking away from the big screen to see something on a controller breaks immersion and will possibly get you killed in any multiplayer game.

When analog sticks weren't used, the PS controller was really good. They just need to let that go already.

I actually heard that controller was really form fitting and felt great to use, but Sony just abandoned it because people on the internet said it looked stupid.

I'm guessing the real reason is that it was 2x the plastic from the look of it :biggrin:

I heard boomerang sales in Australia would have suffered. And Sony was also worried that when you threw the controller, it would come back and hit in you in the face. Can someone say lawsuit? 😛

This is so true, even my GF who is only 5' 2" tall can't stand the PS3 controller and loves the 360 controller because the PS3 controller is too small.

I am almost 6' 4" and have VERY large hands.

PS3 controller works perfectly for me, as does the 360 controller.

So many whiners and complainers when it comes down to console controllers. I will never understand it. Sounds more like people are hating on things just to hate on things.

I'm sorry if you took it that way. We actually prefer a lot of games on the PS3, so I wouldn't say we are looking to hate on it.

IF this is even the controller, people are jumping the gun. We all know that touch screens suck absolute shit for games unless you're touching exactly what you're seeing. If this is even real and a touch screen it's surely nothing more than a few custom menu features on most games.

It's not a touch screen, it's a touch pad, but I still think it's not a great idea.

Has literally never happened to me nor have I ever heard anyone complain about this, until now. Sounds to me like you're not using the controller properly.

I don't like it that way either, but many prefer it.

You know what would be awesome? Having the ability to use either controller on either system. Probably not feasible really outside of clones or extreme modders (and with things like touchscreen, perhaps never), but it would give you the ability to use your favored controller in all things.

I have a real Genesis MK1, but also a clone that lets me play Genesis games using a SNES controller. I also have an NES to Gamecube controller adapter that lets me play the Gameboy adapter games (to be compliant with Twin Galaxies rules for Gameboy games), as well as a PS2 to Gamecube controller adapter (so I don't ever have to use the atrocious Gamecube controller).

The thing about controllers is almost like music. Person to person, you will never fully agree on how they feel/work for you individually. Some people say the NES controller hurts your hand, I love them and never feel any problems with them. Some people say the PS3 sticks are too close, I never had any problem with them. Some people love the analog sticks on the Xbox controllers, while I don't really like their feel. Etc. There's not really a 'wrong' answer, unless it's something obviously ludicrous like the Jaguar or Master System controllers.

I was not referring to any one person! 🙂 I even slightly prefer the 360 controller to the PS3, but it just seems like many people unnecessarily hate on one or the other for no good reason.

I only quoted you because it's very hard for me to understand how anyone with smaller hands than me can find the PS3 controller too small if I find it to be just fine. It's more of a curiosity than anything, but I guess it just comes down to personal preference.

They are 95% the same thing, anybody trying to pretend that one is awesome and the other crap is just a fan boi or has some kind of learning disability and inability to adjust to new experiences in their world.

The thumbsticks are different and the triggers are different. Those are the biggest points of interaction in many games and make a huge deal. I can deal with the mushroom shaped sticks on the PS3 even though my thumbs would regularly slip, but the triggers absolutely sucked. They sucked so much that they released an official accessory to make the triggers shaped like the 360 ones. The PS3 controller was just not as well designed as the 360 controller for me.
