Hate all the social networking stuff, but oh well. How are you guys even seeing good screenshots and stuff? The endgadget live feed has shitty pictures and i can barely make anything out.

HOLY SHIT CAKES 8 GIGS?!

Actually, I have no idea what this means. I know what a gig of ram is but for those of us who haven't opened up a PC in a decade or followed PC gaming at all, what is this comparable to? A high-end PC now? High-end a year ago, high-end in a year?

It's more than what high end PC's need even now.

I have 8GB of RAM and running a full fledged OS, I don't really ever expect to need much more in the forseeable future.

Impressed it has 8GB of ram. The PS4 will have to last at least 7yrs+ at the absolute minimum so it's going forward planning.

I don't care about the social networking stuff personally.

It *must* have BR playback right? There is no way Sony will ditch BR playback. I wonder if it has a 4K option for the future?

Koing

I have to say it's all interesting stuff. I personally can't wait to see what people do with it. Of course I also have to wonder if PS4 will get the same amount of crap for being a PC in the living room that the Xbox has gotten.

8 gigs of ram is great for photoshop work but im not sure any game will hit all of it. WoW will hit 4 ish gigs but i dont think ive seen a game use more

Given that both next gen systems will be nearly identical, and MS has a console as well as OSes on millions of computers, isnt it a given that developers will just develops for the new xbox and then port it over to ps3?

Also, wasnt the architecture supposed to be x64?

I tossed some high performance 16GB into my PC about 5 months ago for around $90, my PC is pretty decent.

8GB will be great for awhile for sure, but if they go another 6+ years it will be long in the tooth again by 2019-2020

I'm a big MS fanboy but man, I might bite. I want remote play at any cost. I never get to play video games now with kids. I get a couple hours free each night and that is spent sitting in bed. Would gladly buy a vita for this functionality.

I don't give two shits for the social stuff.

Damnit, MS better have something better or I'm dipping.

It is 16x what PS3 has. It is a fairly standard amount in a higher end gaming PC but rarely is that much memory used and never when gaming. It is a big deal in terms of developing for the lowest common denominator as that much memory opens up lots of game possibilities beyond just higher res textures.

I'm pleasantly surprised by this console.

Way superior to the PS3 which finally means we should see some technically impressive games in a year or so (on the PC)

Quite the opposite of the PS3 / X360 release... those were low upon release. I'm feeling optimistic.

Most PC games are developed to run with just 2GB system memory (max a 32bit program can use on windows, I'm not sure of many that use the LAA flag) plus whatever memory is on your graphics card, so say another 2GB. Let's say 4GB total.

So yeah, 8GB is a lot for gaming because for PC gaming you don't need more than 4GB system memory right now

Also, fuck this PS Move stuff they're showing now.

I thought the 3D modeling with the move controller actually looked pretty cool. Maybe that thing won't be totally useless.
