A little good news.. per PlayStationLifeStyle
Finally, in a post-event interview on the LiveCast, it was mentioned that “pretty much every commercial racing wheel will work with DriveClub.” We’ll likely have to wait until closer to launch for a full list of what they are, but this is definitely good news for wheel owners.

Hopefully my 2 wheels will be on the list. My 3 custom sticks probably won't work (def. not the wireless one) but I haven't touched a fighting game in years so..

Serious question. Any artists, modelers animators, or musicians on AT that miss old school RPGs?

Given that Unity runs on PS and Sony is embracing indies...

Sick of no RPGs and want to take matters into own hands, but Im just a programmer with two left brains.

not sure why this is a surprise. when is the last time a previous console's controller worked on the current ones. i believe it was psx controllers working on ps2. it would be a stupid business decision for them.

xcm has already confirmed though that they will be working on adapters for ps4 and xbox1 as soon as the console are released. i'll probably pick up a madcatz te2 at launch then hopefully down the road i will get my joysticks converted to work on the new gen consoles.

i may just get a wired x1 controller and mod my joystick with that.

and if you spent $200 on a te, you're doing it wrong.

Yeah... I'm not sure why anybody would expect controllers to be backwards compatible. That definitely has been a rare occurence when it's happened.

It was only the PSX Dual Shock that worked wasn't it? I don't think the original controllers worked on the PS2. At least, I don't remember them working. I did ditch them to get a dual shock though, once those came out.

I guess the Wii supports GC controllers. That is a pretty recent example, but it is very rare.

USB peripherals worked from PS2 to PS3.. like the old Logitech wheels.

Yes they did which is good but it's usually not the case.

The PS4 still uses Bluetooth for connectivity just like the PS3 did. I assume the reason why they wouldn't want PS3 controllers working is for things like the touchpad, share button, light bar, all that jazz.

I'm just hoping USB works so my wheels aren't left to rot.. I can see why a PS3 DS controller won't work on the PS4.

Yah, but in the case of USB its almost certainly a case of them putting a chip that excludes them on purpose. Not like a lot a console changes were the port changed, or the RF protocol changed. I mean those were probably on purpose too, but at least we could pretend.

of course there is a chip in there. why do you think a wired xbox360 controller doesn't work on ps3? all usb is, is a standard of wiring and sending data, nothing more.

any word on headsets yet? would be annoyed if my headset wont work. it uses optical and USB

personally since we have to pay for online now I really hope they give us a headset, even if its a cheap one, with the console. $400 dollars is a nice price tag, but put 50 dollars online +headset and its not very close to $400 any more.

It includes a cheap wired earbud headset which plugs into the controller - similar to the default 360 headset.

I've got a wireless headset for my 360 which also supports Bluetooth mode, so hopefully it will work with the PS4.

I didn't know it comes with a headset? Or are you talking of third party controllers ?

I'm guessing most of the RPGs that have been funded by kickstarter will make their way to the PS4. Except Shadowrun Returns since they had to license the rights for Shadowrun from Microsoft.

No, the headset is included right in the PS4 box, you can check the PS4 spec sheet for confirmation. It's just a cheap earbud headset, but it is included.

Yea I'm hoping my x41's will still work. I'm pretty sure audio will work since it uses the optical out, and the USB is just for power, but I'll be pissed if the mic doesn't work.

The 360 Premium did I remember when I got it at launch it had a headset in it.

Yup, Xbox 360 Elite models included a headset. But the PS4 headset shouldn't be that big of a deal, it's just Bluetooth, so if you already have a Bluetooth headset (such as for the PS3 or a cell phone) you are good to go.

What are the chances that Sony or Amazon will throw in a little something something for Launch Edition customers? I think that would be pretty cool. Not expecting anything of course.

What did you have in mind? Pretty sure that they would have announced something extra for pre orders.
