What are these great games you speak of? Do you have some hidden launch list that the rest of us are unaware of? What do you think people initially bought a PS3 for? The freakin blu ray player. Thats it, cause there was nothing to really play. Heck, I was playing GT:SA for months after I played RFOM, cause there was nothing on the system.
There are 22 PS4 launch titles.
It has been nothing but complaints from the beginning with these new systems. I see new potential, great games, and better online experiences. All some of you see is negative. I did complain about how MS was doing some things with the XB1 but they changed some policies and showed me some good games and I am now on board.
I think the XB1 launch and near term lineup is better. A couple of games that really show the potential of next gen games. Even if the next Infamous game was ready at launch, that would be something to look forward to. I was OK with waiting for better games because I thought it would replace what I do with the PS3, but now that its not the case its less compelling.
Its too bad that essential PS3 collection was a hoax. That would have been enough like the backwards compatibility the PS3 initially had to keep things afloat till the real games started to come out. At least for me, there is no PS4 killer app like Burnout Paradise or Uncharted.
I don't feel like upgrading my gpu now to play bf4 so I'll play it on ps4 for the time being. I'll stick with it, I hope the ps plus online is better, and that the UI is smoother. To be honest it won't get much use until other games come out. Maybe knack will keep me busy. As for AC, I feel like I've play 3-4 assassins creed games then I've played them all.
I am thinking of putting my preorder up tonight. Figure if I can get a decent amount over retail after fees, I'll just wait for the next shipment and buy another one. There aren't any real launch titles I am looking forward to. All my friends are getting FIFA on the Xbox One and BF4 I have on PC already.
Also, sze, you don't need a new graphics card for BF4. You can easily hit HIGH+ on 1080p.
I am hoping to hit ultra with msa x2 post aa off, and maybe ssao levels on there.
I have 670 SLI and can disable one and see what I run at if you'd like. Your card should be faster than that. I am pretty certain you could hit some ultra, but I don't know how much AA.
This could be the smartest thing you've ever posted.why does it bother people so much that others use their consoles differently than they do? holy shit, give it a rest. some people want the feature because they use it, some don't care about it because they don't use it. why is this fucking rocket science to some of you?
The patch to enable blu-ray will be available, as well. If they wanted to screw people and only use the online video store, they wouldn't have the patch immediately available. Are you really not paying attention, or just really looking for something to complain about? Its obvious where their focus is, nickel and dime the consumer to death. No blu ray out of the box, but I bet the online video store is working.
Why would you buy a $400 (or $600, in the case of the PS3) for a media center? You could easily put together a HTPC for that. And an HTPC would be a much more capable media center. The only thing that made the PS3 viable on launch was the media capabilities. That was going to be the saving grace for the PS4 well, but not anymore.

Wow so all of a sudden the PS4 feels REALLY REALLY rushed to me... this is saddening big time for me

- No mp3 support
- No External HDD's
- No Streaming From PC's..... WTF SONY?????
- Video Recording is pretty average compared to what I kinda thought it was, also does the MS one let you chop/change/edit your video then overlay yourself talkign to make help videos etc? no youtube?
The PS3 could do all of these, except the recording bit. Surrey their new mantra of being a "gaming focused console" didn't take it this far to go backwards with pretty standard functionality.
I have both PS4 and Xbox pre-ordered but this is really pretty shit, I mean looking at the 2 compared now if the graphics wasnt stronger on the PS4 the XBOX would be the easy choice?
This all looks like it could be stuff that gets patched in later which makes me think they are rushed.
But the HTPC wont play games? Why would you buy/pay for a console and then a media pc when 1 can/should do both. The PS4 not having media capabilities is an unbelievable almost unforgivable mistake IMO. Even the OUYA does this...
But he said he wasn't interested in the games, just the console as a media center. So, that's what I was referring to.But the HTPC wont play games? While it's pretty arguable that you could build a good gaming PC for $400, it's really all about the games (and your friends.) I could have the best HTPC, and it won't matter when I want to play Madden with my buddy.HTPC can indeed play games...better than either console in fact. You just don't get certain titles. I'm no programmer but I dare you to build your own OS and make it stream movies and do all of the stuff a PS3 does in the same amount of time.
I can't lie the media stuff on the ps4 really pisses me off. All we can do tho is sit back and see what happens,. Its not like they can't push a update to enable it
Does the xbox one have any media restrictions like the ps4 does as of now

Which doesn't come on PC as I said
No I mean if you were playing BF4 on PC, even a $400 HTPC you could run 1080p native. None of the 720p/900p and having to nitpick details lol. You're right, it's about games which is why I can't wait for these to come out so I can start playing.
Seems like we're all in agreement... Just stating things in different ways.cmdrdredd I agree, I never said it was easy but having something on both last generation consoles (whether available at their launch or not) and then making a new console and leaving out what I do believe is something that is a standard now is just crazy (Xbox One is able to do it is it not? also OUYA can stream, My last 3 TV's have been able to stream from PC...) .
Being hard to implement something shouldn't mean you shouldn't do it if they are planning to implement it down the line then this is why i think it feels rushed as to me streaming/external hdd playback are pretty much the 2nd core mechanic after gaming. So it seems to me they are either rushed and couldnt get this stuff in but wanted to release next to XBOX or they are planning to nickle and dime everyone by forcing you to stream from their services for music/movies.
Also when I said HTPC's couldn't play games sorry I was referring to they cant play the consoles games not games in general.
