holy crap, played boxing for the 1st time just now. now that will give you a workout!

i don't quite understand how you do some of the moves though.

Try the boxing challenges on the training section in wii sports, the first is easy enough, but the next two are not easy.

Playing COD3, I found it to be MUCH more accurate and natural than dual analog. it took a bit of getting used to...the first hour or so was hard. But after you adjust to it, it's fantastic. The only flaw, which is particular to the game, is that the bounding box was TINY. The screen would start moving as soon as you deviated from center the slightest bit. But that could easily be changed in future games. It was hard to keep your screen still even when aiming down the sights. Still it was a hell of a lot easier to pop out, and directly snipe someone, but the drifting of the screen made it a bit harder. Actually using the sniper rifles was PERFECT - you didnt have direct control as with the other guns, but instead you could slowly and steadily drift around, like a good sniper would, and the screen didnt drift - you could nail krauts with it so fast it wasnt even funny. I'd take wiimote over dual analog any day. In fact, even though mouse is more accurate, I found wiimote FPS to be more natural and fun, since it feels like you're directly controlling your gun, like you should be, rather than just your body. It was great to go into a room and spray some nazi's all over the place without my screen flying all over the place as I aimed around. I heard red steel was the opposite - you have to go all the way to the edge of the screen. I played a bit of it multi, and it did require you to go way further to the edge than COD, but even still, it controlled very well.

I played it only for about 2 or 3 hours, you do get used to it. When I was done I got to thinking that it would be way cooler if it was like a point and shoot light gun. maybe they could even make a little holder for it like the steering wheel. Then you could use the nunchuk for movement, and the wiimote as a light gun. I dont care for the dual-analog-stick-like approach and its not as innovative as I was hoping for.

But then you couldn't strafe. I think it works great as it is, although they should come out with a gun attachment - I have to contort my hands to have easy access to A, B and the d-pad at the same time.

I'm thinking strafing should be as easy as tilting the nunchuk right or left.

I'm totally in if someone can confirm they work on 12/1. :D

You can always make your own for free

Has someone already dumped the pinouts for the Wii?

If so, link please so I can solder up a component cable. :D

Check the second post for the details.

As for the $7 component cable...shipping is at least like $17 and ships from overseas. By that time, 3rd party cables will be available at retailers and for the same price. I had everything in my cart, but just figured that I'll harass some retail employees. and by harass I mean threaten their lives if I can't play my Wii at 480p...the usual.

So are people are able to find remotes and nunchucks now or are they all still sold out?

Does anyone know if Radio Shack has any? Their site shows they have at least 3 games for sale, but I wonder if I walk into a store if they have any? There's one close by my work so I might stop in during lunch today.

Argh I'm so pissed. I started Zelda and played 3 hours into it (watching all the storylines, as it makes you). I was playing around w/ my options and put in an SD card and tried to format it... well my dumbarse formats the drive instead and I lost all my saved games! Oh well.. back to the start. I just hate having to talk to everyone all over again in order to advance.

damn, nintendo is really geting you with accessories, huh?

i'm going to need an extra remote and nunchuk, GC controllers and memory cards to play GC games, classic controller for VC games (i guess you might be able to use the GC controller), component cables, the usb wifi adapter or a wireless router if you don't have one.

remote - $40
nunchuck - $20
classic controller - $20
component cable - $30
wifi adapter - $35-40 or wireless router - $30+

almost $150 extra on the cheap end and thats not including shipping if you buy from the nintendo store.

actually, can you use the classic controller for GC games? might be able to save some money there.

Yeah, the accessories are pretty expensive. I think it's pretty lame that the console only came with a composite video cable... at the very least give me S-video. On the upside they did include wifi capability in the console itself and since I already had a wifi router it didn't cost me anything to get it connected to the internet. But back on the downside I wish they had included an actual ethernet port on the console. I already have a network cable run through the wall to my entertainment center and a switch splitting the connection so that my XBox and Xbox 360 can get internet access. I was planning on hardwiring my Wii as well, but can't right now since the LAN adapter isn't available (yet another accessory!).

Also, do you actually need a GC memory cards to save GC games? I was hoping they could be saved on the built in memory. I have a GC so I already have a memory card, but I was hoping to not have to use them since they don't plug in flush with the system (i.e. the panel has to remain open). I haven't tried it yet though.

As for the classic controller, I know the opposite is true... you can use a GC controller for classic games, but I don't know if you can use a classic controller for GC games.

from what i read, to save GC games you need a GC memory card
someone either posted or pmed me a link to a page that showed what controllers were compatible with what. i think i have the link at home but not here at work.

I've got a question... Is there any sort of volume control for the speaker inside the Wiimote? Maybe it's just me, but the volume seems to be too loud. This is especially true for Zelda where some of the sword sound effects and the sound that plays when you find a secret or complete some tasks are extremely loud.

i asked that earlier and never received an answer. i must admit that i really haven't read the manual though. just enough to get me playing, lol.

also, other than the synching, is there a way to do some kind of calibration?

Hit the home key and then click on the battery icon I believe. I'm gonna go start playing the 6th dungeon in Zelda.

I got mine at Gamestop, try going there and asking when they'll get theirs. I went to 3 in my area the monday after it was released and they had 3.

Walmart just advertised that on 12/6 they'll have more. Should also be available online.
