If these rumors of a red Nexus 5 are true, I'm going to be slightly annoyed, because I might have to sell my black Nexus 5 and buy a red Nexus 5.

However I'm hoping Google do something silly like they did with the white and have glossy sides and a less desirable back texture, so I will be dissuaded from having to make the swap. Haha.

Really wish phone manufactures would release all the color options at once.

PS. Rumors also say it could come in all the Google colors, red, yellow, blue, green, orange, and purple.

Yeah, no skins for me. They last about 48 hours before I get so annoyed with the feel that I peel them off. The rough edges of the skin drive me crazy.

How is the headphone audio performance on the N5? The G Pro at 100% with headphones was roughly equal to 75-80% on my S4 and iPhone 5.
Do you mean quality or volume? I think quality-wise, it's behind my iPhone 5 judged with my Triple Fi 10 Pros, but volumewise, it's about the same? I don't know. I see people complaining about the volume being too low and needing boost parameters in the kernel, but I do not experience that.

I also find that the headphone volume in calls is way too loud even at the minimum volume. I mean not loud like it'll annoy me, but just that I can't turn down the volume in con calls where I can continue working where only minimal participation is needed. It might be the fact that 5 points of volume isn't enough granularity and dynamic range needed to adjust the volume. I never have this issue on the iPhone 5.

I meant volume. It was a big flaw with the G Pro. 100% level on the Pro was equal to roughly 75% - 80% on the S4/iPhone 5. Hopefully the N5 doesn't also have this issue.

Also, can you disable the lock screen entirely on the N5?

You can disable the lock screen yes. In security setting screen lock to "none" means it wakes up directly to the home screen when you press power button.

I guess no one read Chris' article. TLDR: The N5 goes louder than the G2 through the headphone output, but that's because the top 3 volume steps (13-15) have major distortion.

Not sure how those compare to the G Pro.

What is everyone using for Custom Roms/ Kernels?

What have you tried and what's your favorite so far?

I'm new to the device so will be trying some roms out, but like all Nexus devices, so many choices on Roms.

I use it stock. I found no reason to change. Stable, fast and does what I need/want.

CM is my favorite ROM.

Franco or Faux make my favorite kernels. However, with the latest CM CAF changes, I think custom kernel support is going away unless they decide to keep up with CM.

While I do not feel like custom kernels are necessary for battery, I use them solely for color control. It makes the screen absolutely gorgeous.

if you use nova launcher do you lose the ability to say OK Google on any page tehre is a google search bar and have voice command open up?

Anybody having wifi connection issues? Since last Friday afternoon, my N5 is not able to connect to my company's wifi network. Stuck at authenticating and obtaining ip address. I've tried rebooting, forgetting the network, safe reboot, etc with no luck. Brought my N10(still on 4.3) into work today and it connected without issue. The N5 has no issue connnecting to other wifi networks and I have no issue connecting any mobile device to the my company's network.

Thanks. I am testing out the stock launcher for now, but the icons are just too big, can't fit enough stuff on the screen. But I'll give it a few days to see if i can adjust.
If you are rooted, you can go with xposed framework + GravityBox. GravityBox lets you adjust the number of icons on your screen; right now, I'm running a 5x5 grid.
