I just looked at my contacts list. 2 people on Telegram, 162 on WhatsApp. Yeah. I think amongst the 20s and 30s crowd WhatsApp may be popular but we should be doing more to push Whatsapp into the mainstream. of course the US mobile messaging market is just a mess, so who knows what will happen.

No, thank you.

I recently updated the camera app on my Nexus 5 and I have to say that I am extremely disappointed. The UI isn't as good and features have been removed. The only new thing it has other than the UI change is the new "Lens Blur" feature which is kind of cool but mostly gimmicky and can probably be done with phone editing apps. I also don't care for the new app icon either but that part is just nit picking and doesn't really bother me.

So what are are people's opinions? Do you like it? Not like it? Why or why not?

Let me start by saying I am not a fan of actually removing features so I don't agree with what they did there. However, with the exception of removing manual WB control, scene modes ect, I can't understand why anyone would like the old UI better than the current one. But to me the details of UI and how you change modes ect..are all secondary to what is by far the most important change:

They FINALLY show a proper 100% preview image instead of a cropped image preview. It should always have been like this. They should never ever have had a cropped image full screen preview in the first place. That is why it is hilarious when I see people actually complaining about the the big black bar for the shutter button area, or that the preview doesn't use all the screen. There is NO WAY for the preview to use the whole screen and actually be correct because the sensor is a different aspect ratio than the screen. As a photographer myself it is so relieving to finally have the exact framing you will get from the final picture shown in the preview. That outweighs all other changes for me.

I would be fine if they were to add an option to display a full screen cropped preview if someone really wants to use it that way (why?!)....however the way it displays the preview now should be the default behavior.

The UI isn't as good? The Stock Camera UI was absolute trash. This is miles above the old UI.

I'm not sure why anyone would like the new UI over the old UI. The old UI provided access to all settings from a gesture anywhere on the screen. Everything was located together. The new UI splits some settings as a swipe from the left side of the screen, other settings are accessed from a three dot button on the right by the shutter button and other settings require going into a settings menu that takes you away from the camera view.
