Havent had a chance to go through the whole thread and completely unfamiliar with nexus products, but if this will be subsidized with a contract, any idea what it would go for? Im due for an upgrade and looking at the optimus g pro or the g2. Still up in the air but wondering if I should hold out for this instead.

Unlikely to be subsidized. T-Mo will probably carry it at a higher price than Google will sell it direct. Sprint may carry it on a contract at $200.

The G2's software stack looks to be fucking horrible and app-breaking so don't do that.

Whether or not you like LGs software is up to you, but what do you mean by app breaking? I find that a bit hard to believe.

Biggest difference imo is battery life and the G2 looks very good - finally another phone that meets the good enough to not care threshold. If the Nexuz5 rumor on a much smaller battery is true, that's a big everyday difference. The Nexus 4 gets me to all of 2pm before needing a charge.

Another day another leak, this time from good old benchmarks like gfx. GFX benchmark site confirms what we've already heard(or know), that is Nexus 5 will have Snapdragon 800 chipset under the hood along with 1794x1080(1920x1080) resolution.

Part of that has to do with SoC. I'm sure it will be improved with an S800 with LTE. The choice of removing LTE got us a crappy SoC with the modem attached to the USB bus. It causes massive wakelocks on the Nexus 4. 2300 mAh should be enough if everything else is done right.

^Have to agree on this one... msm_hsic wakelock is a b!tch...

It's particularly bad when you are driving. The tower handoffs drive msm_hsic through the roof. Hooray for 30% wakelocks. On the other hand the phone performs admirably on wifi. The issue is I never bought this phone to use on wifi all day long.

LGs 3 finger gestures interfere with and sometimes both get activated so you change apps instead of (or in addition to) archiving mail, or whatever else the app maker wants 3 finger gestures to do.
The font stuff LG added breaks headers on the play store which are supposed to be italic but aren't. Happens in other apps too.
The menu buttons (remember those) kills the overflow menu buttons ICS is based around.
No multitasking button (oops).
The LG keyboard removed decimals from the numberpad. No way to enter numbers on "number only" text fields.
Seems to go on and on.

Wow that is fricking horrible. Didn't they test their software with at least the most popular programs?

A lot of that is bad, no doubt about it. But the missing overflow button is not a bug, the phone has a menu button below and so the app is behaving as it should. Why would you have two menu buttons?

OK, not a bug. Just a throwback to gingerbread days.

It's not a bug, but it's also a step backwards in implementation. I suppose if they had a way to force the menu button to show up AND have the menu overflow button still show up like in CyanogenMod, that would be good.

Absolutely ridiculous.

How much smaller would this be than a Note 2? I was hoping they would keep the 5.2 inch screen so that it wouldn't be that much of a difference.

Why would it be good to have two buttons to do the same thing? 😕

My galaxy nexus has shattered screen and is acting finicky charging... I need the Nexus 5 yesterday... I hope I can make it these next few weeks

The question is I am still quite happy with my nexus 4, except the battery life. Do I upgrade?

If its the same price as the nexus 4 and the battery life is improved, i will have to kop.

Haha I think most of us are in the same boat with our Galaxy Nexus. Mine has a lot of problems because:

1) I dropped it in the toilet at work so the wifi and 4g signals have not worked right since.
2) I dropped it and cracked the screen at a 5k
3) It is just old and the battery lasts about 4 hours.

My issue is should I drop verizon for this phone

A crazy part of me thinks the Nexus 5 will shock everyone and debut at $199 on the Play Store. Reason? The Nexus 4 is STILL listed at the same $199/$249 price points with the text "Please check back soon" despite being out of stock and Google stating they have no intentions of restocking it. Why would they tell you to check back soon while keeping the price listings up if they didn't intend to maintain those prices for the next release? Last time this happened when the GNex dropped from $400 to $350, the Nexus 4 debuted at the same price. We'll see.
