I don't mind paying $399 at all if it has all that and 32gb storage with LTE. Heck even $499 is fair or even pricing in line with the GPEs. I personally would rather see flagship specs on the phone and for the old Nexus 4 to stay around as the budget solution. I'm tired of corners being cut and compromises in the Nexus line.
 
Here's praying that the Nexus 5 will be available for Verizon like the nexus 7. I have three lines with grandfathered unlimited waiting!

True, but will it be as reliable as CDMA is currently for voice? I feel like these deployments are always integration challenges, and I'd rather not rely on an LTE-only solution unless its proven to be just as reliable as the current solution.

Does this mean Verizon has NO CHOICE but to let you use your phone on their network once they flip on VoLTE? I'm curious because right now you need a CDMA phone and therefore they can act like the gatekeeper. As for LTE only devices, I'm curious how the Nexus 7 will work. Perhaps the delay is due to additional negotiation with the US carriers :thumbsdown::thumbsdown:
 
I wouldn't mind paying 499 as well long as the N5 has flagship specs.

I don't know if it will be worth upgrading from a S4 GPe though.

I imagine it'd be as reliable as your LTE connection is right now.

I hope it's 4 carrier like the nexus 7 so I can use it on Verizon now and switch to t-mobile when my contract is over and sell my unlimited line.

Meh wasn't a huge problem as so many made it out to be. My biggest gripe is how much 4G kills this battery. At 2 years old now my phone is definitely showing it's age. Especially Especially after using my friends S4s
 
I will be happy to see a top-spec'ed Nexus 5, but realistically, I don't know whether pushing hardware specs is the way Nexus phones should be headed. The N4 is still very strong today. Spec-wise, the only thing the N4 is missing is LTE support. Maybe Google will have to have a phone with LTE support now that even its tablet does LTE, so yah I think some kind of Nexus 5 with LTE is almost certain. And while at it, it does make sense to upgrade other components. 5" screen may go well together with the "Nexus 5" name. But other than that, I am not sure how much faster hardware needs to be at this point. At least until there is a breakthrough in battery tech or glass tech, etc.

LTE and a microsd slot. Thats all I want for christmas this year in my nexus 4.
 
So no SD slot means Google will be pushing the clouds on us, wonder if they'll ever factor in that apps are getting bigger and bigger. The cloud does absolutely no good when there are freaking game that are over a gig. Outside of music and uploading pics & video you take the cloud's absolutely worthless imho. And to be honest with the low data cap and how much music I listen to, I can't even use it for that. Would be a plus if Google forced LG to impliment better NFC support. Nothing like buying a 10 pack of 1k tags only to find out the Nexus 4 isn't compatible with them.
 
Maybe they should try to do it "the Apple way", by getting a great SoC (8974) and clock it at optimal speed achieving good performance and great battery life?

Ugh, I didn't notice that link mentions a glass back for the Nexus 5. That's a problem for me. I hate the glass back on my Nexus 4. Why is LG so stupid?

My ideal phone would have a soft touch back like the Nexus 7 2013. Something that feels durable, show show scruffs or fingerprints easily and I wouldn't need to cover up in a case. I hate glass and super glossy plastic phones.

I really like the back on the super cheap Nokia 521. It's a matte polycarbonate plastic that feels durable doesn't show fingerprints, isn't slippery. From what I've seen of the Moto X that back looks pretty nice as well. Neither are quite the soft touch grippy backs like the Nexus 7, but look durable and won't show fingerprints or scuff up easily.

With my glass phone, I feel the need to absolutely wear a case out of fear of scratching the glass and because it starts looking bad quickly with all the fingerprints the glass attracts.

Geez, if I didn't feel like the Moto X was so over priced for it's specs, I might want to buy that instead of waiting for potential disappointment in the Nexus 5.

You probably bought Samsung specific ones. Every tag I've used with my Nexus S, Optimus G, Nexus 7 has worked just fine.
 
I love the glass back of the N4. It feels so good in my hand and makes the device "look" unibody.
 
If it turns out to fit those specs, this would easily be my next phone. I just don't know if I can handle a 5.2" screen...I have an AT&T Skyrocket right now with the 4.5" and that's already pretty big in the pocket.
