I have some troubles when overclocking my system (K8NGM2-FID, Athlon64 3200+ Venice E6, 2x512MB RAM):
BIOS 3.50
DDR voltage - default (2.55V)
all RAM settings - auto (only Memclock Value changed manualy)
CPU to NB Frequency: [800 MHz]
NB to SB Frequency: [800 MHz]
CPU to NB LinkWidth: [16 UP 16 DOWN]
- if I set Memclock Value: [200 MHz] or [auto], I can reach max. 215 FSB (stable), also RAM freq is 215MHz (3,4,4,8)
- if I set Memclock Value: [166 MHz] - max. 220 FSB, RAM 183-184MHz (2.5,3,3,7)
- if I set Memclock Value: [133 MHz] - max. 232 FSB, RAM 153-154MHz (2,3,3,6)
otherwise (at greater frequencies), the system doesn't start at all, I need to push the "red button" on the board to reset the BIOS settings
I think that MB can hold even 240MHz w/o problems, but what is the trouble that I can't start the system with Memclock Value = 166 and FSB=230???
my RAM modules are GOODRAM ones (value memory), SPD 2,3,3,6@133/ 2.5,3,3,7@166/3,4,4,8@200
Say, I set Memclock Value = 166 and FSB = 230: I shoud obtain a 2300MHz CPU, 230FSB and ~192MHz RAM (a normal freq., even for value RAM) ... but that doesn't work
**added**
I tried to set FSB 248MHz and Memclock Value = 100, and "voila", now I'm editing this message working at a 2480MHz CPU (FSB=248, HT Link=992), but my RAM has very poor freq: 124MHz [2,2,2,5] (~3400MB/s read; ~1350MB/s write) when @200MHz I had ~5100 read and ~1800 write ... very poor
the only thing that is good: at 2480MHz CPU and with "Smart FAN"=ON(50%) t(CPU)=33c (ambient=27c) 0% load and 42c when loaded 90-100%
so, it's 100% true that my MB and CPU work fine @248MHz; the only problem is RAM - it should also work properly at Memclock Value = 166, but it doesn't even work at 133 ... "what to do?", that's the question
can somebody help me? please write what settings need to be changed/set ...
