I didn't have any issues ordering from your web site. It went fine. Inventory status would be a great feature though. Thanks for the e-mail within a few hours of the purchase letting me know it was OOS. I did end up canceling my order since this board is OOS for you, like most everywhere else.

Thanks. Good to know. I just wish the shipping was so expensive from them.

As per your feedback, we are working on adding inventory display to the website. Our goal is to more or less show in stock inventory items only. that way, only items that are in inventory will be displayed and items that are out of stock will be hidden. Sometimes, however, the manufacturer delays communicating with us when the product reaches it's end of life, (EOL) or if it's back ordered.

Sincerely,

Adam.

Did you figure out how to use the front microphone jack with the K8NGM2-FID audio? I have the same problem.

Addition to my previous message. I'm using the X-QPack case. I've set the Realtek audio as described in the FAQ and I can get the headphone jack to work but not the mic. I'm running as administrator.

Open the "Sound and Multimedia" applet from the control panel and select Audio > Sound Recording > Preferred device: Realtek HD Audio input. Click "Volume" and make sure that "Mic Volume" is selected. A non-administrator can record from Mic too. Somehow I made a mistake when I wrote the known problems of the front audio panel.

According to the MSi website the 3700+ processor is not supported on the MSI K8NGM2-FID. Yet the offical thread states otherwise. Clarify.

According to K8NGM2 Series CPU Support Status, Result of 3700+ (Toledo, San Diego) is OK. Several users in this thread are using 3700+ with MSI K8NGM2-FID.

The MSI CPU support chart above has a mistake. The 3700+ (E4 stepping) is correctly shown under the San Diego section. But the 3700+ (E6 stepping) is shown under Toledo. This is incorrect, as Toledo is a dual core processor.

I have a 3700+ E6 stepping and it running without a hitch

I found out at an HTPC forum that the MSI K8NGM2-FID doesn't work well with the LC11M. The position of the 1x slot makes it so that the riser doesn't line up with the slots. It looks like I'll have to get the Asus board for this case.

I am still configuring my new system and have not tried to overclock it yet. Later on, I intend to try the Overclocking Recipes in renethx's first thread. I made a mistake above: My 3700+ is E4 stepping, not E6

Does anyone know if there are any good 3rd party programs for reading system and CPU temps? The latest Speedfan (4.28) says it has nforce 410 support (and so I would assume 430 as well) but it still doesn't read anything except my hard drives.

Hey Adam,

Can you tell us anything about getting this board? Is it discontinued? Is there a revision coming out for it?

Anyone interested in buying one would like to know.

Thanks,
Dennis.

If you use process explorer - hardware interrupts are listed as the source.

Unfortunately for me, I have two mirrored SATA drives, a Maxtor IDE hard drive, and a Plextor IDE DVD. As a result I can't use standby S3 or hibernate.

If you just try to delete these .sys files, XP won't boot.

I also had some luck turning off the secondary IDE controller in the BIOS (which had the Plextor attached) and leaving the primary IDE controller (with my Maxtor) still on.

I didn't get high CPU usage when I tested it a few times, but this problem is not automatic. Sometimes it takes more than a few tries before the high CPU usage appears after standby. Since I like to use my DVD drive, I haven't had time to experiment to see if the Plextor or the secondary IDE controller could be the problem.

Ohio -

Thx for the reply... I'm running a RAID setup as well and, after one hard drive failure too many, am not willing to give it up... looks like I'm out of luck until we get a BIOS or NVidia driver update...

Yea, it's coming in next week, no exact date yet. I have about 15 customers on the wait list for this board, high demand for this one for sure.

just curious: has anyone here tried using crystalcpuid to push the voltage beyong 1.4v?

Yeah, CrystalCPUID reads the max available vcore as 1.4, and 1.4 is the highest the board will provide regardless of what you set in Crystal. That's on my board with BIOS 3.00

If we need an external sound card, do they sell PCI-E sound cards? I need to install a sound card, a wireless lan card, and a HDTV tuner card and I don't see any PCI-E versions of these. So, if the built-in sound is good, I was thinking of skipping the sound card. Any thoughts?

I think jhlee99 asked an excellent question, and we need to see a definitive answer to the "High Definition Audio"

Asked another way, how 'clean' is the audio on the K8NGM2-FID?
Can we rip CD to MP3 and what I want to do - convert my old albums to CD format with a minimum of distortiion - or should we go SoundBlaster??

I'm using the SPDIF out pins on the mobo to a digital coaxial audio cable to my 5.1 capable receiver and it works just fine. It passes the Dolby Digital/DTS signal from DVDs (and I assume HDTV channels) and sounds great. I believe this is what they mean by "high definition audio." I couldn't tell you if it's any good for what you want to do though.

I don't know how good it is because my speakers weren't good enough to tell, but FWIW I haven't seen any IGP board that comes with HD 7.1 audio. The foxconn 6150 and biostar 6100 have no hd audio. The DFI RS482 has the ALC850 chip vs. ALC880 for this board. That doesn't mean it will be good enough for your purpose; just that you're probably not going to find something better that's integrated.

The lack of slots is a real problem, but you can get a USB wireless card and even USB tuner card and free up a PCI slot for sound if you need it.
