Woot, just saw that iOS 6 is available. Anyone know what the download times are like right now? I'm guessing it's slow-going at the moment. 😛

If you have a 4S you will get the new panorama mode for the camera and the new mapping stuff (with turn by turn directions) and enhancements for Siri (sports, movies, reservations, social networking). The new do not disturb feature looks possibly useful as well. Ars has a good review.

Maps looks pretty good...except for this:

What's not in the new Maps is public transit directions. Google's API wasn't perfect, but transit directions were supported in many cities. As a city dweller who drives little, 9.9 out of every 10 times I use Maps is for public transit (transfer here, get off there)—not just in my own city, but whenever I'm traveling. I have virtually no reason to use Maps otherwise in my daily life, which is why its sudden absence in iOS 6 is deeply disappointing.

...just saw on ATT website that my white 32GB iP5 has shipped...and OS6 is installing on my iP4 (soon to be a SIM-less iPod Touch for my daughter).
 
2 things I have noticed so far after iOS6 install:
1. Safari seems faster. Just overall web browsing.
2. Text tone is quieter and I cannot seem to increase volume.
 
Safari does feel faster, but I'll have to use it more to be sure.

SunSpider is definitely faster though.

3604.5 --> 2980.8 which is a 21% boost on my iPhone 4.

www.senorgif.com remains painfully slow though.
 
Now they're asking for 3 security questions in iTunes, but the questions are stupid and you can't change to different ones. Oh well.

Downloading YouTube now.
 
So when do we get our shipment notices? I want to know where my iPhone is so that I can constantly fret about when it's going to get here.😛

Excellent. Now to figure out what I can order from Amazon that will trigger a morning delivery, so that UPS stops by my house early.😀
