I like having replaceable batteries and I only ever have the one battery. Besides the whole changing them out when one runs low thing that some are bashing, there's the little matter of replacement when it dies. It's much easier to get a new battery and pop it in than have to take your phone in for repair.

If you are referring to the guy that said that it was a hassle to change it, I think he was referring to in phones that have removable batteries. Getting the phone booted back up and firing up your apps again, that sort of thing.

Plus having to carry the extra battery, or keeping them places. Why not just plug the sucker in? I never really got the spare battery idea I guess.

The crazy thing is, by the time that computers finally got fast enough that swapping batteries became almost a good idea, the battery life has gotten so good that you almost don't need to any more for most people. That and more and more systems have the battery sealed there as well.

if you go to things like concerts or are out a lot, you cant plug your phone in.

i probably am going to stick with samsung phones for a while given they seem to be the only ones with swappable batteries.

my galaxy nexus came with the extended through the costco bundle. and when i've been at say casinos in vegas, or raves, i always bring the standard one in my wallet just in case.

i've been at concerts recently and with thousands of people around if your battery just died, it would be a real mess to find your friends. hell a few weeks ago, all my friends phones got misplaced at a pool, and i had my nexus and spare battery and just kept calling their phones for hours. someone picked up while i was on the spare and returned all our stuff.

spare battery can be a lifesaver for a tiny 1 oz thin silver in your wallet.

I can't believe people are trying to say sealed battery is a good feature. It's definitely not no matter how much you tell yourself that. The only positive is thinner phone but that doesn't outweigh the negatives. Function over form. Something some Apple users can't seem to understand. HTC made terrible mistake with One X. Motorola same with Razr. Of course Apple always had the terrible sealed battery design.

Well, APPL is up about 2% today. My guess is this is the highest it will ever be...more or less. From now on it will just be a downward trend if this is all the "innovation" they can come up with in one freaking year! You rest on your laurels...and you're dead.

What did they add? All I saw is a birds-eye type of feature, Bing has had that for a while.

Unless I missed something Apple has a long way till they catch up with Google Maps. Especially with the local data, 100M looks like a big number, but I'm certain Google has a lot more.

Ok but apple's 3D view is rendered using real imagery. Bing gives you a fixed aerial shot. You can't change perspective.

Even if what iOS offered was just a Bing clone, it's a step forward in that it provides Google's navigation along with aerial view. Satellite view is practically useless on Google Maps. I've never used it. Now street view I can find useful.

Another thing useful is offering alternatives. Useful as we commute a lot and go to places after work like happy hour. Want to know the different routes.

Anyway I wouldn't say Google Maps is lacking in any form, but I'm sure they'll step it up a notch. I just hope it's within this year.

I really hope Google doesn't start using real imagery for its navigation. I want my nav app to be clear and concise when I'm driving.

I'd rather a replaceable one but it's not a massive issue now that most phones have decent battery life. As long as it's like the iPhone 4 where it's not too much of a pain to replace.

so how much RAM?

if I had to guess, 512MB again.
and iOS7 will make multitasking much easier or something, so the 512MB will feel slow, and you'll wish you bought the iPhone6 which has 768-1024MB of RAM.

Isn't T-mobile's plan to re-farm AWS for their LTE network, and use the GPRS bands for HSPA+?

Or is the AWS band in the engadget link referring to something else?

Maybe it was covered but I was working today and couldn't follow the event, but is there an OS specific feature exclusively for the iP5? Similar to Siri and the iP4?

I kinda lost interest after the phone part of the presentation....I think Apple just does that kinda thing when launching the S's tho. A new design sells well but the S's need a little xtra motivation to upgrade.

So how much is the 16gb version, non-contract? It doesn't list the price at Apple website. Only subsidized prices. Also, can you use cut regular sized simcard to the new nano sized or whatever the new smaller simcards are now called?

The iPhone 5 does list support for HSDPA... isn't that what T-Mobile uses for its speedy non-LTE 4G?

I believe the photo panoramic feature is not available on the 4S. I'm not sure what else.

It doesn't appear that current SIMs can be cut down to the nano-sim that the 5 uses, kinda makes device swapping a lot more difficult.

:\ That means no iPhone5 for use on prepaid networks. That stinks. Damn, this means my wife is going to make me sign AT&T contract for this phone.

Just read that the dock adapter is going to cost $30? That's insane. They should be giving it away.

After living with a Droid X for the last two years, no way is this phone big. The iPhone5 is 5mm shorter, 17mm less wide, and 2mm thinner. And I've forgotten my Droid X is even in my pocket sometimes.

Apple is not that only company that rapes you with high price of accessories. It's pretty much standard business practice for all companies. Google is guilty as well.

I didn't even have to buy any new accessories switching from Blackberry to Android. Micro USB FTW!

Anyone in this thread sporting a GS3? How does the battery life stack up against the 5? This is one of the most important features for me and I'm just curious if it's realistic to believe a GS3 used moderate-somewhat heavy every day will make it from 6AM to Midnight without the need for a charge.
