confirm/deny!

mute switch above + volume. easy to switch when flicked up/down from the side nearest the + button, however unable to switch it as easily or at all when flicking it from the side nearest the top of the phone near...can anyone duplicate this?

What? It works fine for me, haha.

Mine does that. Haven't tested in call yet but the posts there are, um, not good.

Hoping it's an AT&T issue. I don't see how something like this could make it through testing.

I could see it going through testing cause they were hidden behind 3G plastic or bumpers. Hoping its more of an error in the software.

If that is the case then it would be a huge flaw in testing that I don't see Apple overlooking. Not testing the phone in the new housing with no case would just be idiotic IMO.

who's in line? post some photos.

I saw the engadget photos of my local mall. Insane. I planned on going at 11:30. My friend went at 6am and said f-that and went to work. I'm guessing I can't make this work. I'll bring my work laptop and see what productivity I can get thru... LOL.

I wasn't going to wait in line, but I went to see how long the lines (Pre-order and new orders) still was at noon. There was still a decent line for both. One nice thing is that they were proactive by counting stock first and then making sure the new order line never had more people than stock (minus enough for the pre-orders). Not sure if all stores were doing that.

I did get to try one out. There were plenty of demo units. The retina display and Facetime are both nice.

I just got mine, and I definitely see yellow spots, WTF?! Also while the phone is great, it's really not such a huge upgrade to be honest.

I just wanted to say that I finally was able to sit down and activate my phoe (got it this morning...the lines were CRAZY).

This thing is nuts. The speed is incredible and the screen is gorgeous. I am one happy camper with this bad boy!!

Oh I just wanted to add that the voice quality definitely sounds improved compared to my 3G.

I cant get over how fast everything is now lol

My only issue is battery life; so far, in 24 hours, I've had to charge it 3 times and I've used it for maybe 30 minutes in total. Not happy about that aspect

Seems just as easy from either angle on my phone.

Really? Sounds broken as this one is supposed to have superior battery life. No issues so far on mine...but I've only been using it since noon...5pm here now...still looks pretty much fully charged. I am expecting stellar battery life after the way Apple touted it.

Got mine today after standing on line for over 8 hours at the 5th Ave Apple store in NY (didn't have pre-order).

The biggest difference to me is the screen. I thought it was just talk but it's a lot sharper!

Got in the pre-order line at 1AM Thursday morning and walked out of the store w/ an iPhone 4 at around 7:15AM.

With all these reports of the signal dropping if the phone is held a certain way around the metal sides it makes me wonder if Apple knew about the issue and that's why they released these bumper cases that pretty much cover all of the metal sides.

I'm pretty sure they knew.

Got mine yesterday. Coming from an iPhone 3G. The speed improvements are insane. Very fluid GUI. Oddly enough, my biggest gripe about the 3G was the sluggishness of Google Maps. No longer an issue. The screen is really nice. I noticed uploads are waaaaay faster (uploaded some pics to facebook). Phone feels really solid compared to the 3G. Camera quality is a welcome improvement, and the LED flash seems to do a good job.

Haven't played too much with "multitasking" or the folders. Haven't tested video much, either.

I think I'll be just fine without a case. I was worried about fingerprints, but it seems it won't be too big of an issue. Either my hands have been overly clean the past 24 hours, or there's a different coating on the glass.

Oh, and about reception/yellow issues:

Reception: Yes, my phone loses reception when held with the left hand and the palm rests on the bottom left part of the phone. I've simply adjusted the way I hold it and I'm good to go.

Yellow spots/lines on display: None

No problems here as well...been using mine since noon. Screen is amazing, response is zippy. Definitely an upgrade from my 3G.

Me either, no issues except when I tried to use sharepod on a different computer running iTunes 9.1. Files copied fine and I thought it was good but it messed up the phone somehow and I had to restore it. Oops, no big deal.

Anyway, I notice the connection issue if I attempt to hold it the way that induces this but it is not a problem when I'm using it and my screen is perfect. The screen is simply phenominal.
