It's highly dependent on your preferences. For me? Yes. I recommend checking it out in store.
 
Mine gets hot with the LTE attenna on, even when I'm on wifi. So far, that is the oly negative and it went away when I turned off cell and LTE.
 
So my current options are:

Used/Mint iPad2 16gb w/ Smart Cover + Applecare through March 2013 for 425 shipped

New iPad 3 16gb for 540 after taxes.

The new one no question. Well, I'm speaking from the owner of an original, although my wife has a 2. This thing is a beast.

Anyway, for whom it might interest:

The screen completely masks it, so you can't see, but it's a white iPad 3.

I like my 64gb Verizon iPad so far. Screen is gorgeous.

It looks like iPhone only apps like better on this than iPad 2. Can anybody else confirm?

Yes it is, the screen looks amazing. It's like going from a iPhone 3G/3GS to a iPhone 4.

Joking aside, the screen is definitely worth it 100%. I can confirm that all of my heavy-weight PDFs with super duper tiny texts show really well on the screen with all of the high res photos and text details.

If you read a lot of texts or view a lot of photos, this won't disappoint.
 
Hm... just tested the line-out of the iPad 3. I rank it at 6/10. No improvement at all from iPad 2 and iPhone 4.

That said, the speaker is loud, if that, but... the headphone port and line out still aren't really audiophile grade like MacBook.

DACs that work with the iPad without external power source are $500.

Dual-amping the headphone port actually doesn't sound that bad, but it's still losing finer details that I can hear on my MacBook Pro. I guess I'll up it to 7/10, but overall, it's pretty uninspiring audio quality.

Good 2 hear. Contrast ratio / black levels is one of the things I was wondering if iPad 3 will improve. iPad2 was actually great! in contrast. But if this is an improvement over the iPad2 then this is good news. I am super anal with contrasts.:thumbsup:


5) My screen is a slight red tint instead of the yellow tint. It's not drastically different compared to my phone, and it's closer to my MacBook than to my phone.

Uh oh.... doesn't sound good! Is it red'er than iPad 2?? The iPad 2's I have seen, including the one I had, had very neutral, clean white whites. It wasn't biased toward any red, yellow, or blue. So are you telling me that your iPad 3 has red push (tint)?




I do *like* my Macbook Pro screen. It's pretty neutral in whites. About the same as iPad 2 in this regard.

No. It's less red than my iPad 2. It's more of a colder tone. It's only red compared to my iPhone. Compared to my iPod Touch 4, it's more of a green blue tone.

Dang.. is that your pic of yours? I can still see tiny bit of light bleed from the left side but still, hardly noticeable. This is at 100% brightness right? If so, you sure got the golden one.

Hmmmmm.... so I suppose there is tint variations between the iPad2's. Some may have red push and others have cooler tint?

Would be difficult for you to take pic of your ipad3 displaying whites right? Cameras can't often capture original hue / color perfectly.... meh nevermind.

Anyways, good 2 hear that your iPad3 is improved in tint. I am anal about tints...
 
My only disappointment so far is that they didn't improve the front camera. I thought they would at least improve it from 0.3MP

Yeah his is really good. I see some bleed in the top right but it's barely noticeable.
