Ivisor2. No bubbles period. Install is about 10 seconds. Most of the time I forget it is on it. It does not help with reducing glare and does a little bit with finger prints, but you can only see them at an angle.

I use switcheasy canvas2. It's an okay case. Do not take it out once it is in as that can cause cracks in the plastic. It doesn't add much to the overall thickness and feature wise is good. I would think the next generation of these would be great.

I mean seriously.... this is year 2012 guys. Some high tech device like iPad 2 should have the ability to play 1080i files... but can't do jack. I mean if we are talking in the year 2000 I can understand that..... 2012 is like future.

You see, I'm an end user, or you could say "professional user". I'm really not asking much here... You just can't do much with the iPad1 or 2 or dinky dunka....

I'd like to thank you for posting all this information and your opinions.

But then i'd be lying.

What games/apps are you needing to jailbreak for?

My opinion on jail breaking is that you just need to have a very specific use for doing it. On the ipad, I jailbroke last just for Retina, which displays retina graphics on iPhone apps that are displayed on the iPad. I decided it wasnt really worth it, so I stopped JB'ing with iOS 5. Replaced XBMC with Boxee and a transcoding server.

On the iPhone, I feel like I must have BkiteSMS and so continue to run jail broken.

I am looking into running some Genesis/SNES emulators. I know Sega and SquareEnix have recently started to release games on the app store, but at a snail pace. I am eager to play classics like Shining Force 2 or Final Fantasy VI.

What are some other good reasons/apps to jailbreak an iPad?

I'm soo nervous about:

Stuck pixels (or dead pixels)
Backlight bleed
Dust underneath the glass

I had to exchange three iPad 1s because of this and just returned it, then I skipped the iPad 2.

Oh yeah, I had to exchange an iPhone because whenever it got remotely hot a giant yellow streak would show up. The replacement has a stuck pixel, but I decided to keep it.

On second thought, n/m
You quoted ")" in my post so I'm not sure what you are referring to.

You're right... I should probably just ignore him, you know, like officially. But i am concerned that someone, somewhere is going to actually listen to him, and I would rather that not happen.
I only spoke the truth. It's not trolling. It's true that iPad 2's are "light bleed-generator". It's designed to bleed. As you can see, everyone of them has this issue. If you ignore me, it's your loss. 😀

Well, I think you can choose to not respond.
Yes that's the best way if he doesn't want to get into arguments. But I think I know why he responded. hehe :awe:

btw, kind of uncalled for calling me troll though, especially coming from you. You didn't say it to me I'm a troll directly, but you were implying I am the troll, when I am not.

My iPad 3 order is marked as shipped, and through FedEx. Going to the tracking number, it shows "standard overnight" and that the package was picked up on Sunday, but it's now 2 days later and no update, so chances are... I suspect it'll only get on a plane on Thursday. Looks like Apple is doing all it can to make sure everyone gets their iPad 3 on time.
WHAT!!!??? iPad 3 is already out? I thought it's not coming till the second half of this year or so.... Is this some kind of joke.

This is the same guy who bought a crappy DAC for his MBP instead of getting Apple to fix his problem... :hmm::hmm:
It's runawayprisoner's fault. HE is the one gave me hint to go get an external DAC. And wasted my money on shipping. The D1 DAC isn't exactly considered junk, it's actually pretty good one. The problem was I didn't "like" the sonic signature it provides, you young cute boy. Do you wear glasses? 😀

I might. But I was sure to buy a decent DAC...

No you are not lying. You spoke fine.

It may sound weird but seriously, the technology has gone backwards. The latest electronic gadgetry does have better display technology and need less room for CPUs and chipsets to make up a computing device. But the build quality stinks! QC stinks!

Yo this time, I'm not taking any chance on buying iPad 3 or anything... I bet ya the chance of getting light bleeds is 99.9999999999%. How much is each going to cost? Starting at $500? With that price range you can't have nice build quality and high level of QC. It's completely 1 million % impossible. The price will have to increase by quadruple, at least! And I bet you 1 zillion % the iPad 3 will be manufactured in China. That's actually one of the biggest problems.

There are too many wrongs going on in this industry. You need to blame the government. 😉

Oh, no, actually blame yourselves! You chose the wrong people to govern you. It's your fault.

What's considered "descent"? What brand / model do you have in mind? How much is it?

Suggestion, my young one, DON'T waste money on external DAC's... Don't buy one just because others recommend it or brag about it. You don't buy DAC for style, or you want to look "cool". This is another reason why it's a waste of money.

😉

No, I'm not implying that you're a troll. To me, there is no troll. Calling someone a "troll" on the internet makes no sense because obviously, the person isn't a creature that's living in caves (you don't get internet in caves), and also obviously, he isn't harmful to anyone.

In general, I only see posts that I can respond to, and posts that I don't think I'm wise enough to respond to.

The only reason why I wrote "aren't there guidelines to dealing with trolls?" was because it was something I wanted to inquire about. 🙂 There are some legitimately hairy creatures that just came down from the mountain to disrupt my peace here... I'm just hoping someone can lend me a hand so that they won't interfere with me enjoying my iPad 3 during the weekend.

Thanks for the comment, runawayprisoner.

I have a lot of skeptics about iPad 3... I will *try* to question about the product in better mannered way....without derailing the thread.

PLEASE keep the thread on topic. Take your arguments elsewhere.
I didn't start this. Alfa147x did. He brought up my "crappy" external "DAC" and bitching about me not returning my macbook which has nothing to do with this thread. He did that to try to mock me oh I know honey... That's why I called him "cute boy" "with glasses". I could flame the hell out of him but I don't want to lower myself to his level. I'm too old for flamefest. This isn't my interest. The product discussion is what I am after...... So Alfa147x is worse than the troll.😀

Runawayprisoner, so when are you receiving one? I take it you ordered from apple site. It appears the iPad 3's are sold out now.

I can start off with some question:

iPad 3 display spec:

Retina display
Well what good is it when it suffers from fast motion due to latency?
The reason why I say this is because iPod Touch 4 and iPad 2 I tried all had motion handling problem.. It either stutters or gives you motion "blur", making it terrible viewing experience. Plasma on the other hand, is night and day faster.

9.7-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen Multi-Touch display with IPS technology
It's still LCD. 🙄 It's the glorified version of 1990's technology. 20 years past, and nothing has improved. Plasma tech on the other hand, is in completely different league, more like alien tech.

2048-by-1536-pixel resolution at 264 pixels per inch (ppi)
This is the biggest question. What good is it when (read below)
Video formats supported: H.264 video up to 1080p, 30 frames per second, High Profile level 4.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format
?

H.264 upto 1080p? Well, duh, what about MPEG2-TS (Transport Stream)????????????? It's a simple 1080i MPEG2 file that's been around for LONG LONG LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG time. Apple still doesn't support it.
WHAT??!! MPEG-4 upto 2.5 mbps?? and at 640x480?? Man, why don't you just forget about manufacturing the product. It's worthless. Nothing has changed from the previous model iPad 2 in this spec.

Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating
Support for display of multiple languages and characters simultaneously
Don't care about that. *If* I were go get one I would get the clear protection film from 3rd party vendor and do DIY install myself.

My brain hurts from reading this.

Oh the humanity. Dude you are not contributing to this thread at all.

That's the good thing about opinions. You can ignore them so easily. 😀

Incidentally, I do agree with some things you are saying. Essentially technology is going in a very weird place right now. Everyone is trying to unify the whole computing experience. Google is trying to with Chrome OS/Android. Apple with iOS and Mac OS. Windows with Windows 8 and Windows Phone 7/8.

In this case, I believe you have to go backwards in order to go forward. You have to start from scratch to unify the experiences. Then you have to build those back up to what you had. I feel as though Apple is taking the best steps here. It's implementing it's OS in so many iterations that you are going to know it off the bat. Then when it starts merging Mac OS and iOS more and more, you're going to know it immediately, too. That's what Windows is doing now, but they're diving right in with Windows 8 and Metro being the centerpiece.

I for one am excited for this iPad 3 and cannot wait for iOS 6 to be on this bad boy.

Oh the humanity. Dude you are not contributing to this thread at all.
Although the questions / complaints / whining (like I like doing 😀) can be, sometimes useful, which could fall under "contribution".

Besides, who says I have to contribute?... I am speaking as a consumer, or customer. I have the right to question or make complaints of the product. What I am asking for is info on the iPad 3. By looking at the spec sheet, I can already see this device will not be able to play MPEG2 1080i files... It can't play AVI files... It can't play .MKV files... this goes back to square 1, you gotta get a third party video player to play them and again, there will be greater chance of system crash. This is why I'm saying nothing has changed other than increased display resolutions and a little nicer display....

Also the light bleed concern is whole another mess. How do we know the iPad 3 will not have this. Yeah, it will attract a lot of new customers as they aren't aware of the issues as they may exist. But for experienced Apple user like me, I'm being real careful now. I caught the *pattern*, eheheheheh. 😀

I'm apparently oblivious to this, but can you kindly post something regarding this? It's the first I've heard about light bleed. I've kind of stayed at a distance to the iPad since I was on Android for a while. I just want to see what you're talking about.

I'm at work or else I'd do more investigating myself. 😛

iPad 1 didn't seem to be much of problem but iPad 2's have been a huge mess in this regard.

Check out: https://discussions.apple.com/message/13203882#13203882

This is one of the biggest threads ever created on earth. Read the whole discussion. It has something like 70+ pages. The problem remains with the iPad 2's that were purchased recently too. In the thread you will see photos of light bleeds / blotches. This can also be found all over on youtube.

This backlight bleed is usually white, shows up along the sides of the screen and any or all of the corners of the screen. The bleed / blotches vary in size depending on the level of your luck. This is noticeable when you watch widescreen movies with black bars on top and bottom in a fairly dimmed room. It gets worse in dark room. Another way to test is to set the screen to display black background and look for light bleeds near the edges of the screen and corners.

http://www.cultofmac.com/87197/if-your-ipad-2-has-display-problems-do-not-return-it-heres-why/

Depending on light bleeds you also get uneven whites and black across the screen.

Read up in the first link I posted above. It has all the information. You will be busy reading for a whole week! Have coffee ready so you don't go to sleep. I like Coffee mate Hazelnut cream and Folgers coffee. Yum 🙂

I will not hesitate to exchange/return my iPad 3 like I did my iPad 1 because of light bleed. Or dust under the screen. Or dead/stuck pixels.

I was pretty hesitant to get one since I'm anal about this stuff and these really are huge issues, but I decided to take the plunge since they have a good return policy at apple.

I love my iPad 2, that said I'm on my 3rd one before I got a 'good' one.

1st one was around its launch, backlight bleeds like CRAZY.
2nd one had couple dust specks under the glass that I lived with for a while until it developed some sort of dull/discolored spots I'm the center of the screen.
3rd one has been perfect so far, but only had this one since October. Warranty is gone now though so here's hoping!

I'd love the new display but don't need the 4g and mine is plenty fast, so I'll probably skip this gen, not worth the 200$+ upgrade cost for something I just use casually/for travel.

Hope the launch goes well!
