So far I'm still on the fence about a screen protector since one is ~$30 and I have a feeling that since the iPhone one is impossible to put on that this one will be orders of magnitude more difficult.

Besides the backlight bleed, I also discovered strange markings on the bezel from some kind of manufacturer defect. Appointment with the "geniuses" tomorrow at 2. Despite these issues, I still love this damn thing.

Apple is replacing my ipad (mainly bc of the marks). They said they'd never seen anything like it and that they want to send it to apple to see WTF is is lol. Whenever a new one is ready for pickup I'll swap since they're not in stock.

Ugh, got to touch the iPad for the first time today but no one had them in stock, even though one of their websites said they did. :(

Shipping time is "June"... that's like... 2+ weeks. I'll take my chances waiting for retail shipments.

Ok, so I finally played with an iPad today. I spent about 5 minutes with one at Best Buy so I thought I'd share my initial impressions.

Like most people say, it's heavier than I thought it would be, and it's not that ergonomical. That said, it felt substantial in my hands. It's definitely well built like most Apple products.

It's fast, vary responsive. Significantly speedier than my iPhone 3G, which I expected. Screen looks fantastic. The 1024x768 resolution is perfect for the device. Screen rotations and transitions are smooth as ice.

Apps look great on it. You could actually use it to read an eBook. Pages look nice. I could actually do some writing on it. The touch keyboard still leaves a lot to be desired though. I'd definitely buy the keyboard peripheral if you want to do any serious typing on it.

All in all, I actually liked it a lot. Would I buy one? Probably not. It still feels a little expensive for what it is. CAD$559 is a lot of money, especially for only 16gb of storage. 32gb would be more like it. I do think it's ideal for people who don't need computers, which is a lot more than you'd think. It could definitely replace a laptop. However, Adobe Flash support is the killer app for me.

I'm going to hold out on the tablet craze until the Android and Windows Phone 7 models start coming out. Hopefully someone will come out with one that's as fast and responsive that has Flash support.

Haha. To be honest, the screen is really nice and I wish I had a bigger one to put more pictures on. Also it's kinda nice to have all your music on. Not possible with my 16gb...

Thanks... I think that'll do it! I'm going to be overseas for a while and as my only computer I'm going to need a lot of space to dump my DSLR onto. SOLD! :D

(I hope they haven't sold out by now... :( )

Edit: .... aaaand they were! They only got 5 in this morning and now they're all gone :(

I havent been able to put my iPad down since I got it last week.
Put my name on a waiting list @ local apple store, plus ordered online.
16gb 3G.
My name came up at the local store before order shipped, so I canceled
the online order.
As far as screens go, the Zagg full body kit does not give you enough spray
to complete the project. After I wet my fingers, applied the spray to the back half
screen, I was out of spray. None left for the front screen install.
Zagg must think the area of an iPad screen = area of an iPhone screen.
Will never buy Zagg again. Had to order another brand for front screen.

And again the issue is with iTunes, which I hate.
After setting up my iPad, iTunes wants to mirror my iPhone apps.
I wish iTunes would realize people just might have more than one iDevice
they are using in iTunes.

I set my iPad up fine and didn't have any of my iPhone apps come over... It keeps different sync profiles for each device.

I watch alot of 30 min tv shows on the netflix app, and at about 18-22 minutes into a show, the app just kicks it back out to the main menu. No idea why it does this.

Also some minor problems with wifi dropping in and out around my house. Should i bother trying to replace/return?

I just wish there were a way to password protect your email without jailbreaking it. :(

I just made a homescreen shortcut to the gmail webpage for this reason instead of using the native app.

Then again, I have my iPad jailbroken already so... yeah.

I got one off craigslist to toy around with and resell. I still hold my initial impression before using one, big ipod touch. There is nothing wrong with that but I would rather use my desktop to get online. I just couldn't see this in my life at all.
