This is my first foray into a Battlefield game. Always had been a COD MW player. So far I am liking the campaign mode. It plays a lot like COD. I have 2 gripes so far:

1) The text throughout the game is too small to read.

2) The enemies are also very small. Draw distance on the game is great but most of the times I have no idea where the shots are coming from. fwiw, I am gaming on a 32" 1080p tv.

Yeah on PC this was what I found too although I sat closer so the text was fine. The enemies often hide so I learned to befriend my tactical binocs. You get them from the first mission, use them whenever you enter a new area from cover to scout for evemies. They will be tagged orange.

multiplayer is lacking a 'free for all' mode, which is my favorite mode to play.

Battlefield isn't an FFA game and never really has been. It's a team based game. 32 on 32 with PC, PS4, and XB1.

well, the game is pretty much unplayable. i keep getting booted off multiplayer with this error code that is plaguing many bf4 players: CE-34878-0

and to top it off, i just got it on campaign and then the following error: "Your save file(s) are corrupt and could not be read by the game, continuing will overwrite the save" :\

fvck!!!!! had to start all over from beginning. lost almost 2 hours on this. not good.

You can thank EA for that since they have to have you connect through that Origin garbage and use their servers for basically everything. Your progress though should be saved to your profile I think.

looks like its a known bug. the CE error corrupting save files.

You need a bigger TV. Battlefield, depending on the map, is much larger than anything CoD. Enemies are farther and sometimes you never know where you get shot from. I personally enjoy it more than CoD because you can do so much more than just shoot a gun.

you can try again. its on and off. but if u start campaign and get that error, kiss your save files goodbye. hope they fix it soon.

I've only received the "game files corrupted message" once or twice, but neither time was it permanent. Worst case scenario, delete the game files manually (no need to delete the game itself). Otherwise, just keep trying.

Me too. I'm actually not that big into 64-player mayhem, tanks, choppers, etc. Battlefield's flavor of TDM and Domination is damn fun and I'm enjoying it a heck of a lot more than Ghosts (in fact I'm done with COD for good).

My only gripe is that there are only four maps or so for TDM and Dom. Zavod 311 is an AWESOME map for Domination though. It's so perfect for the gametype and number of players. Really good stuff.

Another map takes place where there are a couple labs or something. Don't know the name off the top of my head but it makes for some good Dom games too.

Then there's one that takes place in a little town and I hate that map. It's terrible and just lazy map design. "Let's just create this flat little stretch of land and place a bunch of blown-to-shit buildings everywhere." It creates some pretty random outcomes.

i don't even try to launch the campaign anymore, it always crashes with that error, i play mostly domination, and tdm, which are the only game modes that will not kick me, anything with large maps and more than 20 players will take 2 or 3 tries to get a connection, and i only get to play for 15-20 seconds before i get disconnected

I'm starting to see more maps in the rotation. I just played Operation Locker - real tight map in a prison. AWESOME CQB. Really intense.

I'm getting really annoyed by two things though:

1. NO ONE is using their mic. There is zero communication which sucks. Chat is locked down to your own squad, which is a really good thing if you ask me since it's a lot easier to coordinate with 4 people than it is with 10. Still, people need to use the thing.

2. Squad leaders don't do shit. When I'm squad leader, I make it a point to designate objectives (attack this, defend that). On top of being a very simple mechanism for keeping people on task and in sync with each other, it's free points! I've had squad leaders go hide like a bitch sniper in some little corner of the map and just camp for the whole round without doing anything. So annoying.

Yeah those 2 points annoy me, the prison map is awesome but i got really annoyed by the lack of teamwork in my squad last night, I could notice the other team coordinating the capture and defenses where our team would just try to wing it, the map is so tight though, i would sometimes spawn on a squad member where i thought it was safe to die because an enemy squad was coming from around a corner

I'm finally moving from completely uselss to the middle of the scoreboard, my kdr is laughable but i get decent scores for teamplay and objectives, last night one of my squad mates had something like a 19-3 with a 4k score and i was 8-18 with a few hundred points less than him

Add "not reviving" to my list of gripes Tons of people playing Assault but don't use their defibs and medkits.

A couple times today I've been on squads full of Assault players who followed squad orders and revived when possible. We were unstoppable and absolutely dominated.

Screw the browser... try Quick Match. Domination is kickass.

That might be just a lot of new players. I know I don't have a damn clue how those things work yet. This game seems deep to me. A lot more.... options, I guess you could call them, than CoD. A lot more to think about.

That's what I mean...it's much different and requires retraining.

try quickmatch, the server browser blows on the ps4, shows hardly any wortwhile servers and has trouble connecting you, domination is fun while they fix the issue with the larger servers

I got a new assault rifle but i don't really want to switch from the ak12 now that i have the angle grip and the canted iron sights, as well as the barrel upgrades, they really make the weapon worthwhile, i love how they made it so you can switch from close to medium range with the adition of the canted iron sights, i never really liked using scopes full time and my eyes are pretty bad at spotting from longer distances

Another thing to consider when finding/joining servers is Battlelog on PC or iOS.

This is one of the most underrated features in a game EVER. I play with my PS4 connected to my left monitor while my right monitor runs Battlelog. From here you can run a full in-game map! It's amazing! You can also customize your loadouts or find servers. If you click "join" on the PC/iOS, the PS4 will immediately launch you into that game.

So as broke as the browser is in-game, it's amazing what you can do on the PC or tablet.

I recommend a Holo/RDS coupled with the Magnifier 2x over canted iron sights and a scope.

You lose some range but canted iron sights are a bit slow to ADS and that can be the difference in a firefight.

As for AR's, I personally love the ACE-23.



For some reason, the first carbine unlock, the AK-5C, is probably the best carbine overall. Easy to use and good stats, just slightly slow.

I've spent a lot of time looking at the weapons, especially the Assault class. I have most of the rifles unlocked, but like you I'm still using the AK12. It's probably the most well rounded rifle. It's lacking in RPM, but it makes up for it everywhere else. Props to Dice for starting newbs out with the most well rounded weapons. That's not to say the unlocks are useless - they come into play when you start adopting a particular play style.
