Most people aren't used to having so much control over their character. It isn't an issue in Goldeney and Metroid because of the autoaim/lock. Its rediculous that Retro won't give the user the option to change controls. But Miyamoto knows better, so what do I know?

I've been waiting for Prime for a long time, can't wait to play it (or Fusion, for the GBA, for that matter). Unfortunately, I can't really afford it right now nor can I devote the time to playing it until classes are done for the semester. Only like more week of class, Thanksgiving, another week, and then finals, then a few weeks until Christmas, if I get it then. If not, I'll buy it myself.

Erm ... wth is up with the controls though? Throwback to Goldeneye, anyone? 😕

- M4H

How would prefer the controls work?
Left control stick - forward/backward/strafe left/strafe right. Yellow C-stick - free look.

Hmm... ok, just curious. While I do prefer the control scheme of games like Halo, Mechassault, etc. I don't really have any problem with the Metroid controls and I've yet to read one review where someone mentions them as a problem. Like someone above said, would have been nice to be able to change them I guess.

if you read Penny Arcade, Gabe at first didn't like the control setup but after playing it for a bit he was so blown away by the awesomeness of the game that he couldn't complain any more

I'm getting one as soon as I go through my term paper and final exam hell. 🙂

Looks sweet but I better watch out for the controls. I didn't buy Agent Under Fire because the controls just didn't make sense. I still prefer to play Golden Eye and Perfect Dark.

ok played it for 2 hours.
the lvels are massive and varied from ive seen so far..its certainly daunting, but not so much that you would be discouraged from playing.

the controls,as good as i have ever played for a console fps,the auto aim works flawlessly and jumping has more of a platform "feel" to it, its difficult to explain.

the graphics are extremely well done, they certainly didnt skimp on the small details.

all in all,i have to play more to form a better opinion, so far however..this game rocks!

Whee. Just came back from ebgames, time to go play. $5 back through eb certificate (through mail) if you guys jsut want to buy the game alone asap.

I'll save that for Zelda a think. Hey, $5 is $5. No money for Metroid Fusion. 🙁

But on a GBA note, Nintendo has a Gameboy Gamecube player coming that allows you to play ANY Gameboy game (connected to the Gamecube) on the TV!!! Thats freakin awesome!!!

has this rumor been confirmed?
if so,ill be so happy, there are many gba games i havent played becuase of the size of the gba screen and the overall poor quality of it.

I havent played it, but isnt the L button used to both change to strafe AND to lock on? Therefore if youre locked on, youre strafing, which is what you actually WANT to do 99% of the time. Kind of like the z-trigger lock in zelda?

Personally I'm glad there is an auto lock on, because aiming in console FPSes is such a joke. Ever tried to take out those guns in TS2?

Ah! So that's what the little ports at the bottom were for.
