Am at firehouse subs. It was a good sandwich for only 5 bucks.

Got the cold roast beef and cheddar on a toasted hero. Pretty tasty stuff. This is so much better than Subway. Definitely would eat here again.

Yeah, we just got those. They are as good as Subway used to be, back in the day.

Yesterday I ate at Blaze Pizza. It was basically copy of Chipotle concept on pizza. You walk through the line telling them what you want on the pizza and they top and cook it in the fire hot oven for about 3 minutes. Pizza was very thin. Concept was ok but lot more labor intensive than Chipotle with more employees. Single sized pizza was about $9. Quality was ok and you could make some pretty interesting pizza with about 50 topping/sauce choices available. But honestly, I'll take Costco food court pizza over it. I think Costco pizza tastes better. Or maybe I didn't get the right topped pizza. I tried BBQ chicken pizza, meat lover pizza, and Green Stripe pizza. The Green Stripe was probably the best as it was close to veggie pesto pizza I used to make when I owned a pizza restaurant. I can see Blaze Pizza spreading and becoming popular. Not Chipotle popular but it's the same concept and will appeal to similar Chipotle organic ingredients crowd.

I finally tried In-N-Out burger. The place was crazy packed and in many ways reminded me of crazy busy Chick-Fil-A in Georgia. The employees were cheerful and seemed happy to help. I got two Double-Double, fries, and chocolate shake. One animal style and one regular. The burgers were legit and deserving of the hype. In-N-Out has the best fast food burger. The burger was very greasy like any good burger but I didn't care for the bun too much. I felt it was too much bread and the bread tasted cheap. But burger itself was great. I liked the double patty, crisp fresh veggies, and the Thousand Island dressing. The burger had very fresh beefy flavor which I liked. But the fries were terrible. By far the worst fast food fries. I think they should suck it up and fry the fries twice and sacrifice some freshness for taste. Fries look great but taste like chalk. The milkshake was the standard fast food milkshake. It was pretty small and not something I would get again. Overall, In-N-Out gets big thumbs up. The best fast food burger makes up for terrible fries. But the best fast food restaurant is still Chick-Fil-A. They do everything right. Chick-Fil-A is the gold standard when it comes to price, taste, and service and still without equal.

Clearly I went to the wrong In-N-Out while I was in CA. But I do agree that their fries are terrible. All fast food restaurants need to go steal the fries from Wendy's.

McDonald's still has the best fries. Wendy's fries are so average no one remembers it. In-N-Out fries are so bad no one can forget it.

I either don't get the fries at In N Out or I get them well done. I just don't like in N out fries at all.

I always preferred Wendy's fries to all other ff joints. Granted, I haven't really had them from any of those places in years, and, IIRC, Wendy's devolved down to the skinny fries, some time ago? At one time, they were the only FF chain that made thick-cut fries and when properly cooked, were perfectly crispy on the outside and hot and soft in the middle. Real potato. Those were better than everything.

Made it to my local Potbelly today for lunch. Really tasty stuff. The bread makes it. Had my usual roast beef & cheddar with let, tom, onion, may, O&V. Definitely better than Firehouse. Will return for sure.

CfA does nothing for me.

I don't know who's running Potbelly but they need to expand. I think it's the best of the chain subs I had but I need to try again to confirm. Unfortunately, they don't have a location in my state.

You prefer McDonald dollar menu chicken sandwich over Chick-Fil-A so I've learned to discount your taste of anything fried chicken related.

I've been to a couple of the Chickfila's in Connecticut...having just been down in Atlanta, I can say they are not as good. I don't know why, since it's a chain, but it's kinda sub-par compared to the ones I've been at in the south. Even the frozen vanilla lemonade drink wasn't nearly as good at either of the two locations I've been to up here :(

Just had a couple McDoubles & fries, they were awesome.

Beats the panties out of the double cheeseburger I had at BK a little while back. I had a coupon so I went but still wasn't worth it. Some day I'll learn

I've heard teh same about Popeye's in NO compared to the rest of the country, at least regarding the biscuits. Popeye's biscuits are legendarily awful to anyone that has tried one, but in NO awful biscuits are verbotten. Apparently, the original Popeye's biscuit shack (also founded by the Popeye's founder) still operates and is very popular, so they are actually prepared fresh and are real biscuits in those local Popeye's restaurants.

I've also heard that no one in NO eats their red beans and rice, because people just go somewhere else. I've never been to NO myself....and I am 100% certain that Popeye's would never be on my list to eat there in order to confirm this. I want to believe it, because there is no way that a restaurant that puts "biscuit" in its name should be proud of the crap that they sell, outside of NO, anyway.

Their chicken is good, but I always get a stomachache from the grease afterwards.

One weird thing is that their desserts are awesome...not just their pecan pie slice, but their Mardi Gras funfetti-style cheesecake is actually the bomb dot com. And I normally hate sprinkles in cheesecakes!

Arby's curly fries are solid. Definitely one of the better fries.

It's like that with lot of chains. The difference isn't huge but noticeable. The McDonald's in the Chicago areas were all solid and better than I had elsewhere. Chick-fil-A in Atlanta metro areas are solid. Some places are better than others but even the locations in the ghetto section of town are decent. I don't think I've had bad customer service at any Chick-fil-A locations.

It will probably happen sooner or later. I see that they are now as far south as Charlotte, so that's a start

https://www.potbelly.com/store-locator

I would wager most states/metro centers east of the Mississippi will have Potbelly within the next 5 or 10 years. I think that if you have a Jimmy John, Potbelly can't be too far behind. Jimmy John is just awful, but they manage to spread like a bland tumor with their "free" but utterly useless smells.
