The Official AT Xbox 360 NCAA 11 Online Dynasty Kickoff Thread

Welcome to the Official AT Xbox 360 NCAA 11 Online Dynasty Kickoff Thread! We're hoping to start league play starting on Saturday, 7/31, assuming we can get the rosters in place by then. If you want to join, it isn't too late! Just skip down to the "Joining the league" section for details. (NOTE: Users who have signed up for our league should PM me their gamer tags as soon as possible).

UPDATE 7/27: The dynasty is called ATNCAA11 and the password is atncaa11. Once you select your team, you can manage it online by logging in at http://www.easports.com/dynasty.

General Guidelines:
1. Quarters will be 6 minutes long.
2. Difficulty will be All American.
3. Generally speaking, the league will be advanced once per week, so the expectation is that you will play one game per week. Please note that if the league is still operating during the holidays, we will generally extend the cycle so that you'll have 2 weeks to play a game over Thanksgiving and 3 (maybe even 4) weeks to play your game over Christmas/New Years.
4. Communicate, communicate, communicate! Communicate with your opponents to schedule games, etc. If you schedule a game and can't make it, PLEASE tell your opponent and reschedule it! Emergencies do happen and we understand that, but those should be the exception and not the rule.
5. Did I mention communicate? If you won't be able to play a game in a given week, communicate that to the commissioner. Similarly, if your opponent is another person, communicate with that person that you won't be able to play that week as well. If you can't play a game in a week against a CPU, it will be simmed. If it is against another person, you will be temporarily removed from the league so the other person can play the CPU.
6. Anti-cheese rules: We want to try to have a fun and enjoyable league and to do that, we're going to try to play as closely as possible to how a real football team would play. So here are a few rules to help govern a couple of the biggest areas of concern:

Onside kicks: Onside kicks will not be allowed unless you're down by more than 7 points or you're behind (regardless of how much) and there are less than 2 minutes left in the game.

Fourth downs: If you signed up for this league, then you probably watch football, so use some common sense on fourth down scenarios. That means if you're up by 30 points, on your own 25, and have 4th and 2, PUNT THE BALL! Here are some guidelines to help you decide how to handle the situation:

*You shouldn't be going for it on 4th down in your own territory unless you're way behind (14 pts or more) and it is in the second half.
*Be a good sport -- if you have 4th and short in your opponents territory and are within field goal range, kick the FG.
*If you're in that "gray area" (in your opponents territory, between the 33 and 40 yard lines), it is OK to go for it on 4th and short (3 yards or less).

Violations of these rules should be reported to the commissioner and co-commissioner. Repeated violations could result in the user being expelled from the league.

Joining the League
To join the AT NCAA league, we'll need to know the following information:

1. Your Xbox 360 gamer tag
2. Your team selection -- This is important. We're not allowing players to claim teams with 5 star ratings or above. Please see the spreadsheet below for that list:

https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AtPcCearX4mDdDNXNThWdlQ1T0VESkc0eC1wMEFhemc&hl=en#gid=0

Also, to assist you in picking teams, the list below will be updated as new members join:

Big Ten:
blanghorst------Purdue
artemicion------Michigan St.

Big East:
Cuda-----------USF
jtisgeek--------Louisville
KentState------Cincinnati

SEC:
CharlestonUSC--South Carolina

rj23130, ConvictsTheU: You'll need to select new teams due to the rule of not selecting 5 or 6 star teams.

People who voted Xbox in the poll but have not claimed a team:

fatpat268, Bushwicktrini, Jeffg010, JoPh, oznerol

Please let me know if you want to join our league!

EDIT: We need a co-commissioner as well. Let me know if you're interested.

Are we using the standard roster? Any interest in using one of the custom rosters that keeps everything the same, but just adds the names of the players?

So, I downloaded the Madden 11 demo and played it a bit tonight. The game is disgustingly easy. I played the first half and the first drive of the third quarter and was up 28-3. The game plays like the other Maddens and the big "changes" are the strategy pad (they basically moved formation shifts to the D-pad) and a new kicking mechanism. Seriously???

I haven't played NCAA 11 in like 10 days. I am going to really suck especially considering I wasn't good to begin with!

Man I'm siked! I'm getting/renting the game Saturday so that's when i'll start my first game against S. Miss. Then my 2nd game is against UGA and i'm pretty sure someone in the dynasty picked them up.

rj picked Georgia, but technically they're a 5* team so they're not allowed. I asked him to change teams but haven't heard back.

We do have the option to construct a custom conference. I did not do that when I built the dynasty because I haven't received final team selections from everyone yet. We can think about doing that if need be.

I was REALLY shocked and disappointed to learn that NCAA dynasties are limited to 12 players.

Sorry guys, it took me a few days to get logged in. Totally forgot. I've claimed my team though, set up recruiting class etc. Ready to go!

So I've never done this recruiting stuff before. I get 10 hours on the phone. Is that for all season, or is that per week or month or something? Also, once I use those 10 hours up, am I pretty much done trying to convince recruits to come to USF?

You get 10 hours per week on the phone. At the end of the season, if you have people wanting to go pro or transfer, you can use time from your weekly 10 hour pool to convince them to stay as well.

I haven't tried the recruiting in NCAA 11 yet, but in NCAA 09, I used the "Quick Call" option most of the time to quickly unlock the recruit's priorities. To do other things, like make promises, schedule visits, etc. you have to use the Call option, which takes longer but allows you to have a more targeted conversation.
